dog not had a poo yesterday or today

He's normally like clockwork, and goes twice on our morning walk. If it's a late morning walk then he might go in the garden first thing instead for 1 poo and do the second one while we are out.

But nothing yesterday and nothing today.

This is the same dog who ate a dead squirrel or rat on 24/11/20.

His poos after that incident have been fine and normal until now.

He's eating ok and seemed his normal self on this morning's walk. His behaviour now is quite normal.
He's not a massive drinker at the best of times but has plenty of water available.

Do I need to worry yet?
What can I give him as a natural laxative?

TIA

Sardines and vegetables. Maybe make up some tasty water by mixing something nice in it.

Yes. Apparently. That’s what’s we were told anyway.

I’m not sure when you need to call a vet though, sorry. I’d try the water and an extra walk.

Ddog was advised to have tuna in oil with his dinner, when he had had surgery and couldn't go. It worked a treat.

MaMisled · 01/12/2020 14:02

Is he a hairy dog? Is the hair round his bottom matted? Possibly with poo? Even a little dried poop can block the way!

You could try a light diet of chicken, brown rice and plain yoghurt (ideally kefir) - it's useful for bowel health generally as pre-biotic. Though perhaps fish (not chicken) as everyone else is recommending.

And if nothing has popped out by tomorrow, ring the vet for advice (or if you don't want to wait, ring today)

thank you all

I've checked his bottom and it looks quite normal. He loves tuna so he's about to get a very early Christmas present Smile

I'll take him out again later and see what happens and if nothing by the morning, then I'll call the vet first thing.

Unless he shows any signs of discomfort or anything, then i'll call them tonight.

I’ve found two poos in the garden, hidden under leaves.
The neighbours will think I’m a complete nutter as I yelped with delight Blush
