Dog hit by car tonight

Can't believe I'm writing this , but tonight we have had to say goodbye to our gorgeous boy Milo . Dh took him for his evening walk down the fen where we live and unfortunately he got hit by a car whilst down there . Dh rang me in tears and we took him to the vets , who were truly amazing, but nothing could be done as his injuries were just too severe . The vets very kindly kept him alive till I could get my Dds there to say goodbye .

Dh is beside himself tonight with guilt and grief.

He was a beautiful boy and such a good addition to our family , we only had him 3 short years and he brought so much joy to us .

So sorry to read this. Your poor DH I can imagine how awful he feels. Did the car stop? How fast were they travelling?

Oh I’m so sorry to hear this.
I know exactly what you are going through as this happened with our 1 year old dog.

It’s so so cruel because it’s sudden and premature. When you have a dog you expect to have many many years with him/her and that you will have time to prepare for the end. Then it all gets taken away in an instant.

It will take time to accept it and come to terms with it. Let yourself grieve, be sad, be angry etc. Because it’s so not fair and it’s not suppose to happen.

So sorry this has happened. All our worst nightmares. I hope the driver stopped. Your dh must feel awful, but he mustn't blame himself. Run free over rainbow bridge Milo🌈

Oh Op I'm so sorry. And especially for you dh. It's something we all dread and hope never happens.
I came very close to losing my girl last week when on a normal off lead walk at the edge of a field she saw something and bolted... jumped a wall and across a road where a car slammed on the brakes just in time.. she had never done that before.
Sometimes awful things happen :(
