Toilet training advice please!

Hi All, I have a puppy who is coming up to 14 weeks. We are doing pretty well on the toilet training in that she has very few accidents in the house. I am following all of the guidance in terms of praise, treats, constant monitoring and taking her outside regularly. She is getting it well, and goes and sits near the back door when she needs to go out. She is completely dry in her crate (has been since day 1).

I've got 2 issues:

  1. she seems to forget the rules when I let her into other rooms in the house, outside of the main kitchen/living room where she is usually. The other rooms have carpets mainly, which is stressful!
  2. She is able to hold overnight for 6-7 hours now. However, in the day she will often need a wee every hour (or sometimes twice an hour). The guides all say they can hold their bladder for an hour per month so we should be looking at 3-4 hours. However, she will typically go to the door at least once an hour and if I ignore she will then start circling and go indoors. I'm not sure what I should do to build up the time during the day.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You are doing fine.

This is the point when I thought we’d never get back into the rest of the house but would have to live into kitchen 😂

Carpet is hard. Feels like grass so seems like you should be allowed to pee .....

Day time can overnight. Still very young. It’s all ok.

Set puppy up for the win. Live in the kitchen for a week or so more and suddenly things will click and you’ll be ok as long as you follow the rules and don’t put them in situations where it’ll all go wrong - like in a rug.

Enzyme spray for any leaks !

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I was thinking the same - am I stuck in this room forever!

So you'd suggest I just avoid the carpeted rooms for now, until the training is more embedded?
