Indoor poop overnight!

Our three dogs sleep in the utility room overnight. Always have done and we never had any issues. Until recently. Over the past two or so weeks, we've been coming downstairs in the morning to find poo. More at times, less at other times. Sometimes none.

We can't work out what is making them do that. Their routine hasn't changed and neither has their diet. We are encouraging them to go in the garden multiple times after they have dinner (5:00pm) until we go to bed, so it's not like they don't have a chance.

Has anyone had the same issue and, if so, how did you address it? Thank you.

How old are they?

SOrry - I forgot to say. They are 3, 4 and 7.

Could it be that it is colder so they are waking up and therefore the fact that they are moving about is causing them to need to toilet. Maybe hearing noises outside?

Can you hear them if they ask to go out. Perhaps get a baby monitor or camera so you can see and hear what is going on around that time.

Do they need worming?

It would be good to get a camera as Bitey suggests.

  1. to see the time they are pooing
  2. which one is doing it - it may only be one of them

I don't think they are cold. I put blankets on them at night but they push them off and at times even lie on the floor instead of a bed.

We already have a camera on them but it doesn't record so unless I'm watching it while they poop, we wouldn't have a way to see who it was. One of them barks if she needs to go out - the others don't. They just stand by the door.

Re worming, yes, they are wormed monthly.

There was poo again this morning - just one lot worth though. So I think it's just one of them...
