Please don't laugh...pyjamas for dogs?

Not a thread I thought I'd be posting but...

Ddog wakes very early (some days like 4am early!) and won't to go back to sleep unless someone gets up and snuggles her in a blanket. Problem is neither DH or I are very good at getting back to sleep once we are awake, so most days one of us is knackered all day.

Nothing we have tried to get her to sleep longer has helped so far, and I'm wondering if pyjamas might keep her warmer and stop her waking up, she goes to sleep with a blanket on but always manages to kick it off and get it underneath her, so you can't even put it back on without waking her up. I actually think letting her sleep in our bed would help but DH is Not Having It.

She doesn't wear clothes normally and doesn't like having her legs bent to go in things (if you know what I mean), and a lot of the pyjamas I've looked at seem to go on that way.

I'm not even sure what I'm asking but if anyone has any ideas I'd be really grateful!!

I have a greyhound and she has a few coats, one is basically a fleece with a velcro strap that's goes underneath her chest. Something like this might be good as the legs won't need to go into pj legs.

This is the coat, I took this screen shot from website

I love the leg warmers!Blush

What a wonderful idea. Dogs do get into a routine sometimes and I think the pyjamas would be a solution. However when our dog got his bits done they gave him a vest (like a romper suit for a baby with poppers) to stop him from chewing down there.

Needless to say he had the bottom half off in a flash by pulling and chewing at it because he was sore down there (like 1 hour) so he was just left with the top bit which was no use at all!

You can get dog sleeping pods - basically a dog bed with a cover like a sleeping bag. Just Google dog sleeping pod or cave

My poodles wore PJs after a cut.
They had some with kittens on and some checked.
Not used to clothes but didn't bother at all, eventually were exited to see them.

CMOTDibbler · 20/11/2020 15:22

Mine have halloween coats too (glow in the dark spooky star wars) and an assortment of christmas coats from the everyday snowflake print (and matching hats for the humans), to full on Santa Paws for fancy dress and charity events. For fancy dress there is sheep costumes, and a reindeer outfit (humans elf, angel, shepherd). I was going to make camel costumes for this year so the humans could be the three wise men, but of course its all cancelled.

I'm already hankering after one, this thread hasn't helped!!

So adorable!!

I like the pets at home ones for night time toilet trips!! (No pjs around that area)

@Wellthisismorethanabitgrim

It's worth a try for £20 & cuter than a 'cave bed!

Is DH worried he'll miss out on cuddles?!

TheQueef · 21/11/2020 10:36

This is my cat this morning, it's not even that cold.
Buy the pjs Grin

I so wish I could put pj’s on my girl, she won’t even wear a coat. If we try to put her coat on she just refuses to move Grin.

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 21/11/2020 12:24

Thanks so much for all the suggestions everyone I'm going to have a proper look later today. Been up since 4.20am so I really need to find a solution!

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants he's not bothered about that, he thinks it's unhygienic for dogs to sleep in bed. Her bed is right next to ours on my side so she's not far away, but she just loves to snuggle and I think she'd be warmer and feel more secure on our bed. It's an argument I'm not going to win though sadly, he's so soft with her about everything else but won't be swayed on this one!

Could he sleep with you? We used to leave our dog in his bed in the kitchen until we got sick of him waking us up at 4/5 am. So we let him upstairs and he slept on the bed. We regretted not doing it earlier. I used to love feeling his furry body at the bottom of the bed!
