Just wondering really, not here to be judgy. Do you leave your dogs alone? Do they have the run of the house or are they caged/shut in the bathroom?

I've wanted a dog all my life. Now I'm kind of in a position to adopt one - own home, economically ok, partner also loves dogs - but feel I really can't as in normal circumstances we're both out at work all day, and it wouldn't be fair.

When we go for walks in the park, it seems like every other couple/family has a dog, and I wonder how many of them really get enough company and exercise every day.

Mine pre covid times was left alone for up to 3 hours after which he went to doggy daycare. There is no way I would leave him all day as he would get stressed plus he needs to toilet. Daycare is expensive but means I can work and own a dog.

When he is left alone he gets left in one room in the house but he typically just snoozes on the sofa (I have a camera that streams to my phone so I can watch and hear him).
