Best Dog Brush

We have two dogs, a Border Collie and a Jack Russell. The BC shreds twice a year so isn’t too bad, but the JRT is CONSTANTLY losing hair. You just have to touch her to get a handful out.
We can brush her twice a day and it makes no difference.
So I am looking for recommendations for a good brush which will remove deep, loose hair, which is suitable for a small dog. Thank you.

Historically I’ve always used ‘zoom grooms’ or rubber curry comb type brushes for short haired dogs and they’ve done a good job if used regularly.

I now have a Groomi which I find really good, but seems unpopular with some people on MN.

I recently bought one of these & have found it really good fir removing dead undercoat from my terriers.

I’ve considered getting the Groomi for my pony after watching the videos.
Will go to see if I can find a video of it being used on a dog .

Have you tried a Furminator?

Whysrumgone · 08/11/2020 17:13

@moosemama I was about to invest in one of these. Do people think they’re no good?

I second the Kong Zoom Groom for short hair. Furminators are great for dogs with a double coat.

@Whysrumgone when I mentioned them before I was told they cut the fur, like a furminator. Their website says they don’t, they just rake up the loose fur from the bottom of the coat.

I haven’t had a problem with my boy’s fur though. It gets tonnes out and there’s a visible reduction in the amount of shed fur all over the house. He has a mixed coat, with some smooth and some long (over his shoulders, ruff and bloomers) so I use a combination of brushes and combs on him and only use the Groomi on the areas of short fur.
