Ddog needs ear drops from vet going in .
Doing my best ,but as soon as he escapes he shakes his head and they fly out ,that’s assuming we have managed to get them in .
There’s 3 of us all holding him ...it’s a nightmare
Tried doing it in his sleep ,but he wakes up and runs .
It’s surolsn
Do you think if I go back to the vets there might be an tablet he could swallow instead

Says it’s for ear mite infections on the bottle or bacterial ,fungal infections..
Will it go away eventually if I can’t get them in ,or he keeps shaking them out

Nope, it will only get worse. If you can't manage it, ask your vet about once-daily drops. There is actually also a new once-weekly medication called Osurnia that might be appropriate.

Thanks I will ask about that weekly medication

Make sure the drops are at Ddogs body temp ,
Feed him peanut butter while they are been put in and for a min or so after
Gently but firmly hold his head and rub around the base of his ears to help the drops go down ( I found it easiest to stand astride mine and do this from behind )
Make sure that this is not the only time you handle him , lots of fuss stroking his head and ears at other times to so he doesnt think every time you come near it will be horried .
Good Luck !

It's taken us a long time to sort ear drops. I've had to teach and reward. Over the last 6 months we've gone from him running at the sight of the drops to him sitting on his bed nicely while they are done and then getting an awesome reward for. Wing so good. (Either dinner or a sprat). It was when i stopped forcing it we made progress.

My vet treated his ears with a 2 dose gel put in once a week to battle the infection when it flared and i focussed on helping him learn and be calm at home as the pressure was taken off when i wasn't actually having to treat.

Vet nurse here. Surolan stings like buggery. Ask for an alternative.
