Pet insurance questions

I have never had a pet before but we are thinking about getting one soon - probably a dog - if we can find good breeder. I know that there are various health questions that need to be asked specific for each breed. But I was just wondering, is this just for our own peace of mind? Or is this something pet insurers need?

If you're talking about health of the dog's parents, I've nver been asked anything like that by an insurance company.

The only questions they ask about health background, in my experience, is about any pre-existing conditions the dog itself has.

Ah thank you. Yes I was meaning health tests of the parents. Hip scores eye scores etc
