So confused by the options. Is lifetime cover for accident and illness worth it? I suppose no one can answer that as you just don’t know do you! Really don’t know what type to take out. Help!

Yes you should have a lifetime policy. If you dont and you claim for something then that will be excluded when the policy renews

Thank you! So if I’m right I need as much cover as I can afford. Ie, £7k so for the breed we are getting it is around £50 a month. Thanks for your quick answer.

Who are you going with? I am with bought by many for my cats and they offer a good amount of cover at a reasonable price

Enrosadira · 29/10/2020 20:33

Bought by many, def

Choose carefully. Lifetime cover is essential because without it, any claim you make will mean that the following year, they will exclude it.

However, once you've chosen an insurer, if you change insurers, any condition you have previously claimed for will also be excluded.

I have Petplan for all my pets. They are reliable and pay out quickly. Having said that, it's £56 per month for my dog now Sad

I’ve only looked at petplan so far. Only because it’s what my parents used and I have no experience with any others. (It’s cover for a dog)

Definitely lifetime. I've always used Animal Friends for my pooch.

Petplan is by far the best. The lifetime insurance only goes up with inflation, so a few quid a year. I stupidly moved my youngest dog to Tesco a few years ago as it went from £50 a month with petplan to £35 with Tesco and we needed to save money. Within 2 years Tesco had risen to £55 without even claiming, so I went back to Petplan.

I found petplan too pricey and went with bought by many for my 2 cats. I have made 1 claim and my renewal only went up by a few £s.
I was tesco first but after the first year the price jumped with no claims

Yeah get lifetime cover if you can afford it. I actually have the 1-year per condition cover with Petplan for my cats, because that's what my shelter cat came with and I just got the same for my posh cat - well shelter cat had all sorts of virus problems and digestive problems for the first ten months, and Petplan paid out - I was really worried it would go on into another year and I'd lose the cover. In the end we were luckily and she was well by the end of the year but it was a near thing.

We went with bought by many’s lifetime policy after our one month free pet plan cover ended - referral link for a £20 Amazon voucher if useful for anyone mention-me.com/m/ol/dw5md-f5db5c8926
