My pug has itchy ears. Can anyone recommend anything? I was going to try stinky stuff but it's £15 and would prefer recommendations?

Thanks

We use Thornits powder, it has a strong smell but is great.

I use daktarin athletes foot spray for fungal/yeast infection, but check with a VET

Please take him to a vet. Itchiness may well mean an ear infection which can also be painful and cause damage leading to loss of hearing.

Ear infections really do need a vet. It could be something minor, but equally could be something serious. Not all infections are equal and some are tenecious and hard to resolve without proper medical intervention, including tests for bacteria etc. Without this attention in a timely manner, you risk thickening of the ear canal which leads to more infections, more thickening, and so on. Until nothing can be done except to remove the ear canal altogether.

It could also be linked to allergies - common in pugs.

I use stinky stuff regularly to help keep his ears clean and it seems to be preventing a recurrence. But if you've got gunky sore ears see your vet. Putting anything in when they're infected needs vet input. Mine has to have steroids when his flare up to get the soreness down.

Stinky stuff gave my dog manky ears, will never use it again. I use an ear cleaner twice weekly now and it seems to be doing the trick
