Receipt for rehoming a dog?

Hi - We are rehoming a Border Collie tomorrow. Do we need a receipt from the owner (paying by bank transfer)? What info needs to be on it?

Also with regard to the dog's micro chip does the owner write to the micro chip company advising of change of ownership?

Anything else we need/need to do? Will get Vet book etc

The micro chip company will want your registration number before they change ownership. They work with data protection to an absolute fault as I found out to my cost.

The new owner can get a form from the vet and they add on your details and then their own, but the micro chip people will not comply without your number.

There needs to be some written record of transfer of ownership, like PP said for the microchip.

My dog is coming from Portugal but I already technically 'own' him (he's being fostered until transportation) and have all his paperwork.
