We have a 3yo Lab cross and have just adopted an 8mo Lab cross. He was born at the rescue place so is very comfortable with other dogs and people. He seems very sweet and gentle. But he has had absolutely no training at all - he knows nothing. We worked hard training our other dog and he's very well behaved so generally we're set, but I tried to put a lead on the new dog earlier and he FREAKED. Leaping around trying to rip it off. I managed to get it off him and he didn't try and bite me or anything, and I've just left it on the floor so he can smell it and get used to it.
Any tips for lead training for an older puppy who is anxious about it? We have a big garden so a walk is not totally essential for the first couple of weeks, but we love our dog walks so want to get him used to it ASAP to make sure we can give him plenty of exercise.
Thank you in advance!
