Hello,

My dog does have a vet appointment at 3pm today but it's breaking my heart listening to him, he was dry heaving on Saturday according to my parents and he was very tired yesterday and didn't eat anything and then at around 4am this morning he started dry heaving (loud enough to wake the house up) and has been coughing up this substance - I'm not asking for expert advice (unless there's a vet here) but was wondering if anyone knew what it could be? I'm going out of my mind with worry. He's been doing it since 4am and it's 12 now :(

He’s probably just eaten some grass or something that hasn’t agreed with him.

Is he walked on a collar or a harness? My lab is walked with a collar because he pulls me over with a harness. If he’s been particularly pully he sometimes vomits and coughs like this.

But def get him checked. I’m just trying to reassure you with benign possibilities.

Thank you, he does pull like mad on his harness so I'm hoping it's just that.

My dog often eats grass and throws up like this every few days. It seems to be something they do when they have a dodgy tum.
I'd be a bit reassured that this looks just like harmless stomach bile, but would be concerned that hes been trying to be sick all weekend. The vet will be able to check out the tum. I'd be a bit worried that he might have something stuck like a meat bone??
Is he pooing and weeing as normal? I'd check out the latest poo if you can! It might give you useful information for the vet
Good luck

Kennel cough is horrible but treatable. Our dogs had it years ago before the vaccination was developed and we had nights of poor sleep listening to the poor things coughing but they made a full recovery.

Get him a bottle of baby tixylix , my dog loves it and I’m fairly sure he coughs just so I get it out for him . Hope he feels better soon .

Hope he's better soon.
