How much exercise for a Goldendoodle?

Hello all -

if you have a mini Goldendoodle (ie a miniature rather than standard poodle parent), how much daily exercise do you give him/her?

It would be really helpful to know what the exercise consists of too - ie how much is very active (eg running after a ball), how much is general off-leash mimbling around, how much walking on a leash.

Also, if you can remember, how much was about right when she/he was a 4 month pup?

As you can probably tell, we've got a pup and I'm fretting over whether we're giving her enough.

A four month old pup shouldn't be lead walking for more than about 20 mins.

Off lead sniffing around IMO is as much as she wants, as long as you use common sense, can recognise the signs of tiredness, are not heading off on five mile hikes and and can enforce rest.

Pups of this age need to sleep loads, or you'll have all kinds of behavioural problems ( think overtired toddler...)

Echo what has been said about, five minutes per month of age or you risk joint problems in older age. Tire her out with training, find it type games and socialisation if you can in these times.

When she’s over about 1 year - 14 months she’ll probably need an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening (or maybe that’s just our young, active dog) x

Thanks both! Socialisation has been really hard - she had her second vaxes late, plus Covid, but we've done the best we can. She's consequently pretty timid and we're torn between wanting to charge ahead with socialisation walks in the park, and trying not to overwhelm her.

Re exercise - neither of you mention fetch games where she has a real thundering gallop - should I be avoiding at this age, too much for joints? If not, how long is about right?
