Neighbour complaint about dog weeing

Keepyourginup · 27/09/2020 18:43

My DH was walking the dog earlier. Walked past a house at the other end of the road while neighbour was doing some work (sanding something down or the like) on his drive. The neighbour (we don't know him, long street and he is the other week end) stopped DH and said 'i noticed your dog did a wee on the car tyre earlier, please don't let him do that, it can affect tyre pressures'. My DH was a bit surprised and said something like ' I'll try to move him on but if he starts to wee, I can't stop him'. Neighbour then started getting a bit arsey and rude, DH walked off and said 'I'm just walking my dog mate'. The car in question was parked on the pavement....the neighbour has a drive but doesn't use it. We would never let our dog wee on a garden and would always pull him away from someone's property, but is the neighbour being unreasonable to moan about a dog doing a wee on a car tyre when it's parked on a pavement?? (and he's got a perfectly good drive). I've said that in future I'll walk him on the other side of the road as I don't want the neighbour to have a go at me. DH says I shouldn't have to and that the dog is doing nothing wrong and neighbour shouldn't complain if his car in on the pavement. Opinions please.....

No, why on Earth is ok for anything or anyone to piss on someone’s property? Did he rinse it off after?

mineofuselessinformation · 27/09/2020 19:10

I'm interested to know why you and your DH think it's ok?
All you have you do is walk your dog (and keep them on a short enough lead) so they can't piss up others peoples property.
It's not difficult.

Sertchgi123 · 27/09/2020 19:12

@RunningFromInsanity

Errr if my dog started weeing on someone’s car I would pull him away pretty sharpish.

A fence or hedge is fine, but a car?? Why would you think that’s ok?

Think you were in the wrong here.

Your DH needs to keep the puppy away from people’s property. I don’t let my dog wee on cars or wheely bins. Dogs scent mark. If a dog pees on something every dog going past will smell it and try to wee on the same spot.

AlwaysLatte · 27/09/2020 19:19

Absolutely not ok for your dog to pee on someone's property, and if it's a public road then they have as much right to park on it as you. I can't believe your husband would think that's ok. Anyway, you can always tell when a dog's about to pee and move them swiftly on,

Holshicup · 27/09/2020 19:25

How would you like your car reeking of someone's dog wee, not to mention when you need to do your tyre pressure / change a tyre

Jeremyironseverything · 27/09/2020 19:41

It would piss me off. Keep your dog away from cars.

m0therofdragons · 27/09/2020 21:25

I wouldn’t let my pup wee on someone else’s property. Your dog can’t be that young if he’s cocking his leg. It may happen but your dh should have apologised.

midnightstar66 · 27/09/2020 21:37

Your DH definitely should not let your dog pee on car tyres. My tiny pup is female so obviously this isn't an issue but she does sometimes pull to go on to some neighbours lawns - the front gardens here are completely un fenced. Of course I never allow her to pee on anyone's grass as neither would I let her pee on their car tyres if that was a risk. I know it's not AIBU but you and especially DH definitely are!

SquirtleSquad · 27/09/2020 21:45

You keep saying it was your DH not you.. but you're the one posting here so you're the one posters are directing their Hmm at.

Grim. Keep your pissy dog away from peoples cars.

WeAllHaveWings · 27/09/2020 22:36

I would not let my dog pee on anyones car, garden, wall, fence, plants, house or any public bins, bus stops, near playparks etc. He is trained to wait until he gets to an appropriate place. Just don't let them stop to sniff until somewhere appropriate, it really isn't hard.

Your dh is a twat did not apologising and taking it on board, and YABVU looking for excuses for him.

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 27/09/2020 22:40

Don't let your dog piss on other people's property!

LupinsNotLilys · 27/09/2020 22:42

Would it not bother you if a strangers dog pissed on your car?

Your dh is bu

Plus, as he's a puppy, he should be trained to pee elsewhere. I have a dog and I wouldn't let my dog pee on a car unless it was on my drive

DiscombobulatedAf · 27/09/2020 22:44

Your dh was in the wrong and so are you since you don’t seem to see an issue with it. I think you’re very lucky you didn’t post this in AIBU Hmm

fuzzymoon · 27/09/2020 22:54

The problem is some people don't recognise dog wee as dirty.
If a person wee'd on their car they'd be outraged but don't see dog wee as unhygienic.

It's rude and dirty to let a dog wee on someone's property.

Keep dog on a short lead till you get to a dog walking area.

dontdillydallytoolong · 27/09/2020 23:06

Gross. Of course this is not acceptable. Surprised that you needed to ask....

jessyjo2 · 27/09/2020 23:11

I know myself its hard to stop it happening. However if I spotted another persons dog peeing on my tyre I wouldn't b impressed, especially if owner there watching and waiting for dog to finish. Sorry think OH in wrong here.

CokeyCola · 28/09/2020 02:08

Tyre pressure? Is your dog weeing acid?

I'd hope my dog wouldn't and I'd try to move on if they did, but it's hard to move a big dog mid-flow.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/09/2020 02:14

Your husband is an idiot. You don't allow your dog to piss on someone's car. For fucks sake.

eurochick · 28/09/2020 02:20

Don't let the dog piss on other people's property. Ffs.

Anordinarymum · 28/09/2020 02:29

I wonder how you would feel if a dog pissed on your foot OP ?

Terrace58 · 28/09/2020 02:41

You let your dog pee on someone’s car. That is just vile. Why would he do that? He shouldn’t have to stop the dog because he shouldn’t be letting the dog get to a position where it’s possible in the first place.

BusterGonad · 28/09/2020 03:11

It's not very classy to let your dog wee on people's property. I'd think you were a bit scummy tbh. No consideration what so ever.

PalTheGent · 28/09/2020 11:44

I can't see it as the crime of century but also would never let my dog do it.

It is very easy to move them on when they start to cock their legs.

DiscombobulatedAf · 28/09/2020 12:17

I doubt OP will be back now she’s been called out
