Every time I tell people we've got a Border Terrier/ Patterdale cross pup I get the sympathetic looks and "ooh they canbe vicious/ trouble / you'll have your hands full/ oof why did you choose him".
So. I think I'm going to make breed up. DH suggestion was German shepherd crossed with Dalmatian Grin. Any advance on that as a conversation starter/ stopper ?!
I should say that every so often we get "omg I love Patterdale and yours is beautiful". But rarely. Give me your amusing suggestions. Pic attached for inspiration

He's been trained since we got him. We had 1-2-1 trainer at home and he's responded really well. He pushes it and I can see his intelligence as he tests me, but he is also very food motivated so that helps. I'm happy so far with how he's responding. He looks like he'd like to play with every dog when out and about but doesn't growl at them. I'm
Training him to sniff and then move on.
"Miniature hell hound "!could be one response for particularly nauseating people.
I might say mum was a border terrier (we met her and know this to be true) but the father refused to be on the birth certificate
I saw a post on Facebook today with a very similar looking pup - Labrador mixed with a spaniel she said. I'll try and find the pic.

We used to tell people that our lurcher/collie/goodness-knows-what was a Bonsai Deerhound or a GBM (Great British Mutt)

My father used to call our dig a mouse hound.
He was a Boxer/ Labrador cross, we thought of him as a mongrel. He'd be known as a Boxador or Labroxer these days.

I tell people my rescue is a love child. We know her mum, but papa was a rolling stone apparently.

Well tonight I met another Patterdale sceptic. "Ooh you'll have your hands full"! They jumped in and said "ooh he's Patterdale isn't he?" Lovely ladies. Dog called Teddy so if you read this- you're lovely but I take stuff very personally and feel like I've been judged for owning him. Poor little pupster.

Looks like a Liechtensteinian sniffer hound to me....

RubbishQueen · 25/09/2020 21:02

I'd say he's a French duck hound.

I need a few hints for my nearly grown up prettypup, I had a man do the mansplaining the mix of breeds of my dog only a few days ago (husky/gsd/akita/malamute)...did I know what the breeds were bred for..oh, what a mix, why do you have a dog like that, you know she will be aggressive ...can you handle a dog like that..well her breeding is that she was developed for...

She had laid down in boredom at that point Grin

I think he’s very staffy like and gorgeous (I have staffies)
I’d call him a Pattashire 🤣
