Dog friendly holidays

Looking for suggestions on good dog friendly holiday locations.

Was supposed to be going to Jamaica in November but that won't be happening so I'm thinking of going somewhere with the dog.

I'd considered a motor home around scotland but the drive from the midlands with a car full of stuff was putting me off!

Myself, my partner and 1 energetic dog!

Dog’s Trust has info in this on their website. Might be a starting point

We have booked a dog friendly holiday cottage in the Lake district for beginning of October... we will be taking food ect with us and hopefully go hiking every day! Cottage comes with an open fire and looks cosy in case the weather is against us.

If you like mountains and lakes, Scotland, the lake district or Wales. If you like water but less so mountains - Wye Valley/Forest of Dean. I can highly recommend a dog friendly self catering around there. If your more coastal but want nice easy to access non-beach walks, go for the New Forest.

My absolute favourite place to stay in the wye valley: www.whartonlodge.co.uk/

We recently spent 4 nights in West Herefordshire/the Black Mountains with a greyhound, staying in dog friendly B&Bs and pubs. It worked very well.

Thank you for the advice everyone I'll check those places out.

We've a couple days north Wales so will be doing that first.

I desperately want to do Scotland but its 7+ hours to Inverness!

We've stayed here a few times www.scottish-cottages.co.uk/highlands-and-islands/northern-highlands/sunrise-uk5406 and it was perfect!
We live in Scotland and went to bath for a long weekend recently. Took us 9 hours with traffic! But tbh wasn't that bad. Stopped a couple of times and dog was fine.
Not sure I would drive that far again for a long weekend but definitely for a week plus holiday.

I was in North Devon (woolacombe/ilfracombe) last week with my dog and everything was dog-friendly - accommodation/restaurants/shops/beaches/taxis.

Every second person had a dog with them Smile

A lot of places are dog friendly. It depends the type of holiday you want. For me the most dog friendly place is the Lake District.
