Help. Puppy got wise to eye drops

He's got an infected tear duct apparently but both eyes weeping. Managed drops twice on day one then once then today he's bombed off when he sees me. DS won't hold him and he howled/ growled at me when DH held him and I approached. I've tried him on my knee but as soon as I opened the bottle, whoosh, he's gone ! Runs away and is wary of me.
Any tried and tested methods? I'll try again if he comes for his snuggles but I'm not hopeful

Peanut butter on a wooden spoon ( harder to lick of than a metal spoon ) kept my dog still when I had to apply ear drops . get you pup use to having PNB first on it own and in-between giving him the eye drops so he does not learn to associate the PNB with bad things

Google how to wrap in a towel (usually done for cats but equally applicable to a puppy) and, if you feel like he might bite you, a tape muzzle. The leg of an old pair of tights is suitable for this. Tbh you sound very wishy washy about this but it is very important to get the medication in, usually 4-6 times a day. There is no alternative. Set everything up for success: doors closed, assistant ready, non-slip table (bath suction mat v useful or towel as above) drops shaken and top off, and give the treat afterwards as otherwise it is just a distraction.
