Bella is not allowed upstairs and never ever offers to go upstairs or follow me upstairs. I believed that she never went upstairs until last week when on the school run ds sent me this photo. Not only is she upstairs, she is actually on my bed! I suspect that she's probably up there each day until she hears the car pull up and then runs downstairs to be where she should be before I come in. Of course I have now scuppered that by making sure the bedroom doors are closed before I leave.

Clever Bella :)

Fannybawz · 17/09/2020 21:23

Aww, I’d let her have whatever her little doggy heart desires 💔

BlueJay99 · 17/09/2020 21:26

Aw Grin clever girl.
But did you not fine evidence of dog on the bed, i.e. hairs?

BrokenBrit · 17/09/2020 21:26

Awww so cute! She’s probably done it for ages and you’ve been none the wiser so why not let her continue .... go on OP she’s so sweet.... Grin

JengaNonConfirming · 17/09/2020 21:27

I'd leave the door open fir her and put a nice fluffy blanket on the bed for her Blush

frogswimming · 17/09/2020 21:28

Bella can do whatever she wants. You should sleep in the kitchen so she can enjoy your cosy bed.

SimonJT · 17/09/2020 21:28

We have two puppy cams, he most definitely does not behave if we aren’t around. He jumps straight out of his pen and causes chaos, when we get back home he is back in his pen. Goodbye favourite pair of work shoes.

HoHoHolyCow · 17/09/2020 21:28

I'm not really a doggy person, but Bella is gorgeous!

How cute!

My boy can’t get up the stairs anymore and certainly couldn’t get down them quick enough to convince me he hadn’t been naughty. That’s really the only rule we have. He’s a pretty good lad. Oh except for eating out of the bin the second someone opens the cupboard it’s in. Thats his favourite snack.

BritneyS · 17/09/2020 21:30

My dog sleeps downstairs but creeps up to our bed at about 9.45 every night. I’m not sure how he thinks we won’t notice him on our bed but he’s optimistic every night. I make DH carry him back down, I’m so weak I’d let him stay!

RunningFromInsanity · 17/09/2020 21:31

I imagine she does it because the bed smells of you.
Let her do it, she’s not causing any harm 💕

HeartGirls · 17/09/2020 21:31

My pets are allowed everywhere except tables and work surfaces. Can't imagine not letting them have free run of the house

hiredandsqueak · 17/09/2020 21:32

She doesn't shed so no hairs, she's not very big or heavy so no obvious indentation on the duvet and she's on the throw in the photo and obviously has enough wits about her not to dig on it to make herself a bed and thankfully she left the toys and biscuits downstairs. It made me laugh when I saw her tbh.

What a sweetie❤️ Bella may come and sleep on my bed any day

We have a similar rule but I'm under no illusions that they follow it when I'm not around. GrinGrinGrin

Ps Bella totally deserves to be allowed on the bed, she's too cute to say no to.

Hoppinggreen · 17/09/2020 21:35

Ddog isn’t allowed upstairs and doesn’t go up there at all.
The stairs are open these days but he just doesn’t bother

ColleagueFromMars · 17/09/2020 21:36

My labrador used to sneak on the sofa when nobody was in. A few times we caught her bleary-eyed slinking off it having obviously been asleep and not heard us come back in time to remove the evidence (herself)! Grin

Veterinari · 17/09/2020 21:37

It's totally normal for dogs to want to be in places that smell strongly of their hooman when they're left alone. Your bed smells of you and that's comforting for her - it's a coping mechanism to deal with your absence - don't close it off to her

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 17/09/2020 21:39

Awwww. Our old dog defo did this. Only evidence was a warm dog size patch on the bed.
New dog has us wrapped round little finger and so is allowed on sofa and bed in our presence

Goingdooolally · 17/09/2020 21:41

I love this!!!!! 💗

Houseinthemiddle · 17/09/2020 21:42

Is the sun on your bed at certain times of the day? Mine seems to follow the sun around the house, finding slithers of sun to sprawl out.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/09/2020 21:43

Only one of them! Labrador, but he is an old boy now, 14. He won’t eat from his food bowl until he’s told he can ‘take it’ - only taught him this because we’ve had various other dogs since we’ve had him and I want them to eat separately as they have different foods. Occasionally I’ll put the bowl down and forget to say it. I must have been faffing about, up and downstairs, in and out of the garden etc for about five minutes a couple of days ago before I realised he was still standing over the bowl waiting for me to tell him he could eat, bless him. It isn’t the first time Blush, I’ve got a lot on, that’s my excuse. Girl Labrador not so good. They’re not allowed on the sofa unless they’re invited up. I’ve often found her, sneaked in to the sitting room and on the sofa, chilling, looking at me as if to say Yeah, What of it?.

hiredandsqueak · 17/09/2020 21:46

@Veterinari Oh I feel bad now for closing the door. From tomorrow the door will be left open so that she can get on the throw and I will pretend I don't suspect she has just got downstairs when I walk in.

Well, I would have been sure he did until a earlier this year. DH left a Toblerone bar on the side table. Our dog never steals and it didn't occur to DH that it was a problem. It was a full bar. He nipped down to the village, about 1 hour total including travel time. When he got back, there was an empty Toblerone packet, with a neat, zigzag line all along the side. The chocolate, and foil, was gone.

It was £167 just for the emetic injection, then vet consultation fee on top. That was an expensive Toblerone. Fortunately, insurance covered most of it.
