Minimum weight for spaying?

I have a beautiful Chihuahua puppy who is 7 months old so I’d like to get her spayed but she’s tiny - under 2kg. I’m worried that they won’t be able to spay her. Anyone with any knowledge on this?

A phone call to your vet will answer this in no time.

I think its more important that she has had a season and its done a certain time after the vet should know better than me, we used a vet who did Keyhole it wasn't much more expensive but better recovery
I assume you have asked the breeder?

Ideally over 2.5kg but some toy breeds never reach that weight. There's no issue with spaying tinies, they're just more prone to hypothermia and hypoglycaemia which the vet nurse doing the anaesthetic will be aware of. Your vet will have their own protocols but ideally she wouldn't be fasted for too long, so last meal around midnight the night before and ideally first op of the day.
