Moved house, dog crying when anybody leaves room

As above! We got a new house recently and have slowly been moving in over the last few weeks. Today we finally got the outside fully secure so they dogs have now officially moved home (they had been staying with the in laws) One dog is absolutely fine but the other one is crying anytime me or my DH leave the room.

We have gone from a house to a bungalow and want to keep the dogs predominantly in the kitchen/snug/utility which all run off each other. They've had a good run and sniff of the whole house when they arrived.

I know it's very very early days but I'm just not sure how to react to the crying when one of us leave the room? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Awww poor pups! Probably ignore it will be the best advice. Is the dog getting exercise? Know where all his things are :food bowl, bed. Has it happened before? with holidays etc? Can he follow you everywhere? How old is he/she?

Did they have thd run of the entire house previously?

Yeap getting good walks and all their toys / beds / food etc are all handy for them!

No previously they just got run of the kitchen & living room which was open plan (imagine your typical 3 bed semi lay out) and they had no issue being left down stairs alone!

Oh and they are 3 & 4

I've just done the same. House to bungalow as well. My dog is 4 and cried for the first 2 days and afraid to be left in a room on his own, and now a week later he has settled in as all our stuff is unpacked and he can see and smell familiar things all around and he's got used to it. He did try to pee on the carpet the first night as he was unsure which door went outside.

I would try to be with the dog as much as possible to start with. They just need to get used to the new surrondings.

You can comfort them - you can not transfer fear, it just makes them feel more relaxed and in turn less stressed.

The less stressed they are they quicker he will settle.
