Thinking about getting a Cav puppy...

Morning all,

As the title says, we are thinking about getting a King Charles Cavalier puppy and I'm looking for some words of wisdom from Cav owners please. I was initially put off by the mitral valve issue but having done more research in genetic testing and treatment etc, I think I feel more confident now. Are your dogs affected?
Do they still live a happy life?

The vet tells me this size tends to have less issues

That's interesting - my old fella was large for the breed (he was a full pedigree, not a cross - just naturally a big chap) and by Cavalier standards he was remarkably healthy and long-lived.

His breeders bred for health rather than looks.
