hi everyone
Anyone know information re: inflammation of the muscles on dog leg joints please? The actual joint is ok and there is no arthritis of the bone this is a muscle problem.

He is prescribed anti inflammatories but does he have to take them constantly ?

Any vets around or dog owners please kindly explain ?

thankyou !

If your unsure of the prescription give your vets a call.

Generally its better to reduce the inflammation & the dog's discomfort so would be daily medications for at least a week or 2 then review.
Unlike us they've the option to use the other 3 legs to weight bear which can be useful initially, but you don't want the dog to associate using the leg with pain & then avoid using it properly as it will cause muscle atrophy and strains or muscle growth in other areas from the body compensating.

Veterinary physiotherapist are very useful for the rehab side if its not minor, can give exercise plans to do yourself between sessions. They often use laser treatment to assist in reducing inflammation & pain, some vet practices also offer laser.
