Do you know what type of anaemia? Is it immune related?
redlaces11 · 14/08/2020 21:30
No they phoned while I was at work am going to pick up steroids tmoro so will have a proper chat but she said it is life threatening am soooo worried

If they have said it’s life threatening it could, potentially, be IMHA (Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anaemia). Where the immune system attacks their own red blood cells. You need to know how low the red blood cells are, as in severe cases they really need to be under a specialist internal medicine vet, be inpatient and worst case scenario have a transfusion to help until the meds kick in.
My boy didn’t have IMHA, he had a similar condition where the body destroys the platelets. So I don’t have any direct experience of anaemia, but there is a fantastic support group on FB for both (and similar) conditions, with some amazing, really knowledgeable people on here.

She said the blood count should be between 36- x his is at 18 thankyou so much I'll go have a look
moosemama · 14/08/2020 21:44
Definitely go and join the group. They will tell you what questions you need to ask the vet and which numbers from the blood results you need to know, as well as being able to advise about the best treatment protocols. I couldn’t have got through it without them.
Really hope your dog is ok. Let us know how you get on. x

They seem to be welcoming several new joiners right now, so hopefully it won’t take too long.
