Hi, ( we have got vet appointment tomorrow) just wondering if anyone knows or has experienced this before. Our pup has developed sores under his chin and also today there is one on his ear. Vet adviced sudocream for now until he can see him tomorrow but I am panicking! He hasn't been out anywhere as he is only 6 weeks old ( our dogs had pups so we haven't had a puppy too early) if anyone can recognise this to put my mind at rest tonight. Thank you

Vet here, can’t really tell from photos and wouldn’t want to guess without seeing but juvenile cellulitis is something to consider - especially if any lesions on the inside of the ear flaps. Responds well to very high doses of steroids for a few weeks but needs a proper diagnosis for this obviously. Hope all goes well with your appointment and pup improves quickly

@Maximuss omg just googled it and I think that's it!! Is he going to be ok? So worried now x

I’ve treated a few and all have done well - as in fully recovered and even the most severely affected no significant scarring (much much worse than ur little pup). Let us know how it goes tomorrow

@Maximuss thank you so much you must be an amazing vet to identify that from the photos! Can I just ask our vet said to put sudocream on tonight until we see him as he wasn't sure what it was as it was just a phone call. Would you recommend that or just leaving it? Also should we move him away from the other pups? X

I might not be right, just something to have on the list as well as more common skin infections and mites etc but it has quite a different treatment so worth thinking about. I would go with what your vet has said, won’t do any harm, no need to move from other pups just carry on treating them as normal

Mammaaof · 05/08/2020 21:30

Ok thank you @Maximuss if you are right, could it be fatal? 😓

@Maximuss just wanted to say thank you so much. You were right it is juvenile cellulitis. He had antibiotic injection today. He's on steroids and antibiotics for 3 weeks now 😓😓 vet said it's quite bad. Xx

Oh bless him. Everything crossed that he’ll be ok.

Maximuss · 06/08/2020 18:47

Bless him, glad he’s got a diagnosis and treatment so quickly though and should start to feel better soon

Juiceey · 06/08/2020 22:02

Mammaaof · 08/08/2020 17:42

@Maximuss thank you for replying I really appreciate it! He's on 1/2ml twice a day of clindaseptin and he's on 1mg once a day for seven days and then down to 1/2 a table a day for 3 more weeks of it just says "pred" on the envelope? X

How is little one doing?

Mammaaof · 17/08/2020 19:33

Hi @Maximuss so sorry I didn't see that you'd posted on here! In himself he seems a lot better! Although he is losing chunks of scabs and hair ( will attach picture) not sure if this is normal? But in my head I'm thinking it's got to all scab off to heal? Where the scabs have come off its just red but normal X

OP posts:
Maximuss · 17/08/2020 19:56

Aw little sweaty! Yep scabs hav to come off and often looks worse when that’s happening, glad he’s ok

Mammaaof · 17/08/2020 20:12

@Maximuss oh fantastic just as I thought! To be honest it doesn't look as bad as I feared aslong as he's healthy that's the main thing! I'm hoping he can have his injections when we go to the vet a week thur, he said to make an appointment after 3 weeks so not sure if he will xx
