Hello. We're bringing home a jack russell rescue pup (8 weeks). It's been a while since we've had a pup so any advice would be welcome, as I'm sure there's lots we've forgotten.

Do not give him the run of the house. Keep him under close supervision and take him outside every hour.

You have made the best choice with a JR - life will never be boring.

But easy peas puppy squeasy and read it before dog turns up. Puppy proof the house first. Work out where it is going to sleep. Don’t leave on own for first few nights unless it’s v chilled.

Buy lots of things to chew. For the dog not you.

Make sure it sleeps enough and has a safe place to go to.

We loved playing football with our puppy but did not realise that this was a very bad idea. Whenever we went to a park where any children were playing with a ball he would run to them and join in - then he got big enough to bite and burst a football. His eyesight was better than mine so he could spot a ball a mile away! Really wish we had stuck to tennis balls!
