My dog was prescribed prednidale 5mg steroids to help calm his ear while we were waiting for the ear swabs to come back to decide correct antibiotic.
1 tablet a day for 3 days
1/2 tablet for next 3 days
1/2 tablet every other day for 3 doses (6 days)
First 6 days no problem. But on Thursday he got us up in the night with a bad stomach, just diarrhoea at that point. This has developed over the last 24 hours into vomiting and diarrhoea, not excessive he is keeping water down and peeing ok but is obviously feeling sorry for himself.
I didnt feed him yesterday but this was also the first day I needed to give him the half tablet after 1 day off. I couldn't get him to take it at all, even though I am not feeding him he turned his nose up at the tiny treat with the tablet in. Tried everything he loves but no chance.
He is no better today and I am worried that he may have stopped the steroid treatment too soon. Do I try and get the half dose in today? Our vet is closed today and I am worried about him - not the stomach yet as it hasn't been 48 hours yet so will give that a bit more time to run it's course. It's the steroids!
