1st aid kit

We are go into bf doing the west highland way later this year and I want to make up a first aid kit for our dog.
What should I include in it?
So far I have
Dog friendly disinfectant
Gauze
Bandage

*going to be doing

Tick remover tool.

Sterile dressing
Bandage ( watch video on corect use if vet wrap type as important not to be too tight).
Tick removed tool
Unless you can get hibiscrub which is in very short supply ( we are struggling to get it currently) I would just use boiled water to clean wounds. Lots of dogs react to other disinfectants.
A pair of scissors as otherwise you can't find them when your bandaging.

Our first aid kit contains:
Sterile saline (tabs in the car, a can in the house)
Low-adhesive pads
Wound healing gel/ leucillin/ hibiscrub
Gauze, conforming bandage, vet wrap
Tape (great for securing small dressings to cut ears)
Cotton wool
Scissors (and in the car wire cutters too)
Tick tool
Tweezers
Piriton
Spray plaster
Veterinary wound powder
Styptic pencil
Plastic gloves

The saline lets you flush out eyes, or wounds so you can see what's going on. It sounds a lot but including a few plasters for the humans it fits into a small sponge bag and slides under a seat.

A few waterproof boots that hold on with Velcro don't go amiss either.

I put mine together based on the advice I got at a dog first aid course. You can buy them ready-made but I had some of the kit anyway, so spent about the same buying lots more vet wrap etc so I ended up with two kits, one indoors and one out. I've just spent £20 recharging my supplies are one of the dogs skinned a pad. Which requires dressing each day for about five days and then a nifty boot to keep it clean, dry and protected out walking.

I have styptic powder rather than the pencil. The pencil is great on my leg shaving nicks but doesn’t cut it (pun intended) on my double coated dog’s nicks.

I have the tick remover tool, I use the tick key on my car keys and the dog whistle lanyard so I have one to hand as soon as I need it.

That looks ace. Might get one of those. We only have one tick remover and it was a (very effective) freebie.
