Hi
Has anyone successfully claimed back this please? Our local specialist wants £250 for a consultation and up to £3700 for the op.

I think the best thing would be to contact your insurance company to check. Have you checked your cover limits and T&Cs?

I have checked and they can't confirm until after a consultation £250. Hence why I want to find out if anyone has got money back.

The problem is if someone said yes they did claim it back then it doesn't really matter because they may be with a different insurer and even if it was the same insurer then vet history comes into play.

£250 specialist consultation sounds about right as well as we paid almost that for a neuro consultation in the last.

Many people will have successfully claimed for BOAS surgery, and many won't - none of this will relate to your circumstances, as they will most likely have different insurers. If your insurance company won't pre authorise the treatment before a consultation with a vet then it will depend on the findings in the consult as to whether they will cover the condition. Unfortunately no one else's experiences will help with this, but I hope that your insurers cover it and your pug gets the treatment they need!

Update: Petplan pre approved the surgery and the pug had a successful op costing £2000.

It's great you got it done, especially given how hot this summer is proving to be.
