Pet Insurance

Our pup is 8 weeks and 2 days old and we have booked in for 1st set of vaccinations but we are looking for advice on puppy plans and general pet insurance, any tips or recommended plans?

I think most of the advice on here comes down to:

• go with PetPlan or BoughtByMany
• get the very highest level of cover you can afford. If you need it, you will be forever grateful to have it.
• do it now before your 4 weeks free runs out (if you have 4 free weeks) because there is a period when you first take on insurance where you are not yet covered so you need them to overlap. Puppies can and do need vet treatment in this time.

Would just add to the above advice: get life time cover, not yearly.

And the point about not leaving any time with no cover is so important as if the vet notes the puppy has an ear problem then his ears could be excluded from any claim forever, similar to mentioning to the vet an upset Stomach, vet puts on notes then Stomach problems excluded forever if this happens in proud of time you're not covered.
