Hi Everyone,

I've finally convinced my partner to let me get a dog. I've grown up with dogs all my life. I have a 10 month old baby so I am looking for a breed that tends to be gentle and patient with younger children.

I've previously had rescue dogs however with a young child we do not fit the criteria for our local rescues. What sort of breeds would be suitable?? Ideally we want a small or medium dog who doesn't need oodles of walls.

I’ve actually got a miniature schnauzer at the moment, one of 3 dogs ,possibly going to 4 soon
But he is a really easy chilled out dog ...I acquired him earlier this year ,so I’d no experience of the breed at all.but I absolutely would recommend the breed ,no shedding is a huge plus compared to my other dogs ,min pin ,pug crosses

Check out Cavachons they are a mix of a bichon and king Charles Cavalier. Mine is 4 had him since he was a puppy. Hes very adaptable, great with kids very gentle and never grows or snaps. He was so easy to train very clever. He is so doppy, but provides a lot of love. He is also lazy (not all are) and only needs a 30-40min walk a day. He was only 1 when we had our daughter and instantly loved her. Mix dogs are such a good start. Plus he looks like a Teddy bear with the personality to match. Good luck I think having a dog while you have a baby is hard work but you can't buy that kind of bond between a child and a puppy/dog. Xx
