Currently have a miniature dachshund, not my choice and not my fave breed (though obviously a lovely little guy) he has had lots of medical problems.
Growing up I always wanted a big dog, an Alsatian or a rotty, but as I've got older and had kids I don't know whether I'd ever get one.
I love Staffies and had a gorgeous boy but the reactions I got from people put me off getting another.

I love Jack russells, think they are perfect little things.
I would always get a cross breed in future.

Tell me about your doggos and your fave breeds 😃

There are so many. I love staffies and rotties, golden retrievers, pointers, jack russells, labradors, german sheps, lurchers, salukis, vizlas, border terriers, schnauzers, newfoundlands... on and on...

But my heart, my true and loyal heart belong to spanners. THEY are the dog by which all other breeds are measured. For me, that are the ultimate dog. Loyal, happy, a little bit naughty, always nosey and wanting to join in, sleepy but ready to go with a moment's notice. Cuddly and tactile. The smell of a damp springer makes other people complain but to me it smells like everything good and wonderful in the world. If I ever find myself without one it will be a very sad day indeed.

@AriettyHomily I have a Cairn too. He’s only one and still a
little devil. Barks at the neighbour’s mower, digs to Australia, chases cars, gives me the finger if I tell him not to do something ..... BUT so full of personality and such a beautiful little face.

My heart dog though, was my previous boy who was a cavalier cross. Like others, I wouldn’t get another one because of the health problems, but they are the sweetest of dogs.

I grew up with two Weimeraners so will always have a soft spot for them.

A relative has a wonderful sweet corgi. I am smitten.

In a perfect world, I'd have a Swedish Vallhund. Stunningly beautiful, herders like corgis but longer legs.

I like most dogs but my absolute favourite was our Bichon Frise who sadly died last year .
My daughter was manically houseproud but insisted she wanted a dog. Her husband agreed as long as she could find a non moulting dog. She went into google and one of the first pictures was a Bichon. He was gorgeous , very obedient and so loving .

Desperate ,just desperate for a saint ❤️

@rooarsome

I have a St Bernard and she's a big soft lump 😂 for such a big dog she's very gentle, loving and playful. She adores the kids too. I had one growing up who was a slobber monster but mine doesn't really slobber at all really
Pic please 😀

I can’t put into words how much we love our cavalier and how full of character and goodness she is.
For those for mention their health risks, if you don’t rescue I do hope you buy from health-testing breeders as it may not give any guarantees but they do a lot to help the risks. Our dog’s parents and grandparents had all the relevant tests and we were given all the paperwork when bought ours. She’s still young at 2 but healthy in every way and surprises me with her fitness as will run all day if she can.

This thread makes me so happy in these crappy times. Especially the photos 💘

I am excited to get another dog in 5/6 years time. A lovely, big, squishy bear of a dog
