Currently have a miniature dachshund, not my choice and not my fave breed (though obviously a lovely little guy) he has had lots of medical problems.
Growing up I always wanted a big dog, an Alsatian or a rotty, but as I've got older and had kids I don't know whether I'd ever get one.
I love Staffies and had a gorgeous boy but the reactions I got from people put me off getting another.

I love Jack russells, think they are perfect little things.
I would always get a cross breed in future.

Tell me about your doggos and your fave breeds 😃

We had a tri colour rough collie & he was absolutely gorgeous. So gentle ( he only ever bit one person & that was a really nasty binman who absolutely deserved it!) & so intuitive. I remember resting my chin on the soft furry patch between his ears & instantly feeling better. We lost him years ago but he is so missed & I cry if I see a dog that looks like him.

Chihuahuas. Love em

I have a patterdale Terrier.

Absolute arsehole. But we love him 😂 he's a typical Terrier with a case of small man syndrome but so soft around my 2 DDs (one who is 12 months and has a very keen interest in him). We've had him since he was a pup. He's gorgeous, wirey, beardy, very eyebrowie, black with a hint of ginger and now he's nearly 11 years old a bit of white coming through. He's a stunner. He knows if something's up and will always come for a cuddle. Protective, barmy, sleeps a lot, then has his mad half hour. Has good recall when it's on his terms. If something needs investigating he will come back when he's good and ready. Love that he needs lots of walking and I'd totally have another one again.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 04/07/2020 14:48

Springer Spaniel definitely, maybe I’ve been lucky but he is the easiest, loveliest dog

On the other hand I wouldn’t get another collie, maybe I was unlucky with mine

vanillandhoney · 04/07/2020 14:48

We have a beagle - he's our first dog.

I love him! He's got such a great character and he's so funny. He comes to work with me too (dog walker) which is awesome. He's super cute and has such an expressive face. I'd get another in a heartbeat.

Norfolk terrier. He is the calmest, gentlest and loveable dog I’ve had or known (and I’m a dog walker and am dog mad). I am also partial to a rough haired daxie. But all dogs are lovely imo.

I love cavalier King Charles spaniels. They were my childhood dog and absolutely adoring.

Real shame about their health issues because it puts me off of having another, but are probably my favourite breed.

He's gorgeous!

Nice to see another dog walker on here too :)

I grew up with a lovely, fun and intelligent and loyal boxer, they arent popular now. As an adult I considered a lab boxer mix

Cairn terriers. Awesome little dogs, current one has a tendency to dog but he gets away with it.

farmertom · 04/07/2020 16:03

Omg @Thighdentitycrisis !! A lab boxer! I had never heard of this cross but he/she looks absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely be looking into this!

of course its a bit pot luck how much lab/boxer you get but they are both lovely breeds, the lab might calm down some of the nutty ness of the boxer I thought

I love the look of a Bernese Mountain dog. They are beautiful. And look so gentle and wise.
But I have dog allergies and I think I would swell up and die almost immediately if I took one home.
I have a mini poodle. Never would have thought to have one of these before but after much research I am so pleased I did. Amazing and very under rated dogs. Loyal, bright, eager to please. Added benefit is no shedding. He literally leaves no trace (other than muddy paws). My new favourite now.

I love Bernease mountain dogs but dh vetoed as they’re too big Grin so we’re getting a cocker spaniel. I’ve always eyed them up at every country show we’ve ever been to (West Country based so lots round here) and I can’t believe dh has actually said yes!

RhodaCamel · 04/07/2020 17:25

vanillandhoney Ahh thanks, yours too 😍, I love being a dog walker.

Me too! Not been doing it long but it's so rewarding!

I met a new client today whose dogs are starting with me Monday - put me in a good mood for the rest of the day Grin

NightOwl19 · 04/07/2020 17:44

Dogue de Bordeaux! I have a complete mix
Of wolf pack but dogue de bordeaux are something special

anothermansmother · 04/07/2020 17:48

Boxer dogs, always had them as children. Big enough that you don't trip over them no so big you need to get a new car to fit them in.
Ours boy is a boxer ridgeback cross and we got him from a rescue. He's the most laid back dog we've ever owned and he lives the kids.
Friends of ours are now thinking of getting a boxer after spending lots of time around ours, as they've been thinking about getting a dog for a while.

AmberPig · 04/07/2020 18:16

Always wanted a cocker spaniel, heavily influenced by Scamper in the Secret Seven I think. We have a Lakeland terrier as she fit the criteria of not shedding much and fitting in the sink for a bath. I wouldn’t have another terrier though. She’s very bright but has no recall and is intermittently aggressive towards other dogs (no pattern, just takes against some). She also has an annoying small dog bark. DDs love her though and she is a looker.

Retrievers. I know where I am with them. They're greedy and they well, retrieve. And they're high energy and love to walk miles and miles and yet they're also pretty cuddly, and become so very companiable

StillMedusa · 04/07/2020 19:54

I have a Eurasier and she is for the most part perfect, other than that she isn't friendly to strangers (not aggressive, just ignores them!) and she's goofy and so so loving. I also love that everyone asks what she IS and is amazed by her black tongue!

But my dream dog, now I've met a few would be an Italian Spinone! if I could have a bigger dog. Big, goofy and the ones I have met have all been lovely.

If I had to have a dinky dog another time I'd probably go for a Havanese, my brother's is uber cuddly!

Bergerdog · 04/07/2020 20:57

We have leonbergers and they are the perfect breed!
The only bad thing is the amount of attention they attract wherever they go Grin
