Roll up roll up... I'm a day late but here we are.

Latest update: Juiceypup is obsessed with DS's feet, who is now starting to get upset by it. He doesn't do it to anyone else, only him, and we don't know why. DS goes stock still as instructed but we have to prise his mouth open to get him off his toe. Has brought him to tears a few times.

Yes we've a chipmunk similar to your squirrel. It's a good one. We've just had a delivery of a coffee wood stick. He's getting stuck into that. I'm hoping he likes that as the yak chew is no longer in favour but I could do with a longer lasting chewing option than bully sticks.

midnightstar66 · 13/07/2020 15:07

Apparently the braided bully's last longer, although I can't say as dpup hides her chews rather than actually chews them

pistachioicecream · 13/07/2020 15:11

Sympathies to everyone having a bad day.

All very Mondayish here today too and pistachiopup much harder work than she was over the weekend.

I'm trying to work from home, which is probably the main problem and is really hard when also trying to stay on top of toilet training and everything else. Lots of accidents inside today which are starting to get me down. I literally just took her outside to her pee area. Stood with her for 5 minutes. Nothing. So I sat at the garden table and ate my lunch whilst she alternated pottering nicely and trying to bite my ankles and jump up (grr). She then walked back in the house on her own and wee'd on the floor!! Why, why, why??? I just don't know what we're doing wrong.

The weather is a bit rubbish again which doesn't help my mood any, and also means she's stuck inside more which is probably also part of the problem.

Biting much worse today too. The teenagers bearing the brunt of that but my ankles just took a battering too.

Very much in the "why did we do this" camp today.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/07/2020 15:31

Yes, old sheets plaited, or an old tea towel go down well here.

Pup worked out how to play with a ball yesterday (I’m astounded at how much doesn’t come naturally to her when it comes to play) so hoping that will burn off some evening zoomies. She is absolutely shattered after being out with the dog walker, I’m not sure how good that is for her but at least it’s only two days this week.

muckandnettles · 13/07/2020 17:18

Some cow's ears arrived in the post this morning. They are huge!

Juiceey · 13/07/2020 17:34

Juiceypup woke us up at 3am vomming again last night. Second time he's been sick and we've only had him 6 weeks.

Definitely the worst side of him being on our bed Envy >not envy

Don't have a clue why.

Mine likes to save the puke for the car 🙃

Imadreamer44 · 13/07/2020 18:40

@muckandnettles I bought a cows ear today to try too. You're right they're huge! Are you supposed to give them the whole thing at once?

DPup has just had a vegetable dental chew we got given at puppy class to try and was the most engrossed I've ever seen her!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/07/2020 19:16

Pigs ears last two nights of chewing here, we confiscate it to make her settle down otherwise she’d chew all night.

She’s just been a right bitey sod this evening including a low growl at DD5, who was sat behind her at the time and not getting in her face. So another exhausting behaviour to keep tabs on. Kids have abandoned me to another room while she chews something disgusting from the bed she doesn’t use!

OwlInAnOakTree · 13/07/2020 19:27

Pigs ears get gobbled up in about ten minutes here! Maybe cows ears will last longer? Let me know! Has anyone tried cows hooves?

muckandnettles · 13/07/2020 19:30

@Imadreamer44 I don't know about the ears but I'm not sure they will cut down and so I thought I'd just see how he got on. He's quite a big pup!

muckandnettles · 13/07/2020 19:32

@OwlInAnOakTree we could all assemble our own Frankenstein type monsters in our own homes with the ears, pizzles and hooves and so on...

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/07/2020 19:42

@OwlInAnOakTree I picked up a stuffed hoof in pets at home yesterday but I’m yet to unwrap it...

midnightstar66 · 13/07/2020 19:46

We got a stuffed cows hoof. It got chewed a lot at first. We actually had an incident where I went to unclip her harness and she must have thought I was taking it away and she was quite cross. It's hidden now though like all the other chews. She likes the filling more than the hoof but I'm sure keener chewers would appreciate it more. We did have a soft poo the next day which I imagine was down to the filling

midnightstar66 · 13/07/2020 19:47

Ducks feet also very popular and apparently very good for teeth but a larger dog wound probably decimate it in now time. D pup is little over 3 kilo

OwlInAnOakTree · 13/07/2020 20:25

@muckandnettles we could! And it would be hideous.

Might try a cow's hoof. Because, you know, I haven't already spent a small fortune on OwlPup already... Hmm

The nyalabones and benebones and rubber chew toys we've got just don't interest him at all.

Polkadotpjs · 13/07/2020 20:26

Ooh I was just about to post asking for chew recommendation! I'm not sure I can handle a pizzle! So to speak...he likes pigs ears but only for about 5 minutes. Braided lamb not fussed on, lambs ears ditto. Very expensive chunk of wood? No thanks I'll take the shed door...

BarrelOfOtters · 13/07/2020 21:09

Ostrich bone, lambs tails, chicken feet, raw chicken wings, v expensive piece of wood, yakker, frozen tea towel....in rough order of interest.

Oh and fish skin bar...

midnightstar66 · 13/07/2020 21:09

Mines not interested in any non food chews either m. The Nylabones everyone raves about were a compete waste of money

marmite51 · 13/07/2020 21:23

We had our first pigs ear tonight, he squirrelled it away from us behind a chair, and came out half an hour later having eaten the entire thing. A big success, will use these when we leave the house.

We can go for walks tomorrow, which is exciting!

muckandnettles · 13/07/2020 21:26

The cow ear went very well and I've never seen him so happy with a chew apart from the pizzle. However I know that sometimes the novelty of something new is everything to Muckpup, so I shall see what he thinks tomorrow. Just took the ear off him after 30 minutes. He fell straight to sleep.

OwlInAnOakTree · 13/07/2020 21:27

I think the favourite and most chewed thing here have been two sheep bones that a 7 year old friend of my DS collects on his walks and gave us as a welcome gift for the pup, bless him. I let pup have them for a while and he had a good chew several times a day, but chunks started coming off them and I wasn't sure how safe they were? So I've put away for now. Pizzles the favourite, by far, otherwise. Lots of options we've not tried yet though!

Peachypips78 · 13/07/2020 22:03

@midnightstar66 the nylabones are shit! Totally rejected.

I can't face the pizzles and animal parts but the best chew we have had is a small Yakkers. Lasts ages, just the right combo of hard with a tiny bit of give, cheese taste and low fat. Schnauzers have to have a low fat diet as they are prone to pancreatitis.

@GingerAndTheBiscuits we have growls and biting too- the biting has ramped right up this week as he has lost four teeth and has wobbly ones too. He bit DS2 really hard on the arm earlier and left five puncture marks.

Peachypup had his first groom today! He looks SO cute and fluffy. I just adore him. I actually missed him for the hour he was there.
