Best dog bed

Hi
I've had a look on the search as I'm sure I've seen a thread on this but can't find it.

I want to get a nice new bed for ddog. He's a mini poodle around 10kg. He's currently in a plastic base and then has had a number of cushions in. Currently a cheap version of those fluffy ones for anxiety (he's not anxious, just looked comfy).

Problem is it's hard to wash and dry. Plus he isn't a chewer but will pull the cushion around when he's excited and it's got holes in now.

I want to buy him a good bed that will last bit is last very comfy and easy to wash.

The Orvis ones look quite comfy but they are quite expensive! Are they worth it?
Or is there a better option?

(As you can see - he enjoys his bed and likes to snuggle in there, though he does tend to disappear!)

Tuffies. The mattresses/nests are long-lasting, very sturdy and waterproof (you can spray them down with disinfectant) and the covers are washable and sturdy (ours have withstood a chronic digger of beds for three years).

They're not cheap, but I think you save in the long run.

If you are a Costco member , or know someone that is I can highly recommend their large round beds , my dog loves his and it’s not gone saggy at all .

MissShapesMissStakes · 22/06/2020 18:53

Thanks. I'll have a look at both.

I've found these which look good. Looks a bit of a faff to wash the covers but he's a poodle so not a shedder and he's not smelly (usually).

Still costs. But not as much as the Orvis.

I have 2 Tuffies waterproof nests and they are fantastic, my dogs love them. Never smell doggy (I have a Poodle too)
They are expensive but I’ve been through so many cheaper beds that go saggy or smelly or are a pain to wash and I throw them out.
Their first Tuffie is 3 years old and apart from a new fleece cover, it’s good as new.

@ButDoUAvocado can I ask what kind you have?

Your bed of course....

ButDoUAvocado · 22/06/2020 20:57

Bed or Poodle? Grin

MissShapesMissStakes · 22/06/2020 21:14

GrinI meant bed - but always happy to meet another poodle owner!

Strangely mine prefers his own bed any day. Always happy on my knee but for bedtime it's his own bed he wants. He likes to stay with us while we get the kids to bed, then he waits at the top of the stairs for someone to go down so he can have a cuddle on the settee and then get in his own bed.

I’ve got this one and it’s on clearance in fetch so a bargain.

Nothing helpful to add but loving his camouflage look in bed!

ButDoUAvocado · 22/06/2020 21:47

Both their beds are XL nests and the Poodle is a Standard in desperate need of a haircut!

MissShapesMissStakes · 22/06/2020 21:52

Cutie! A standard? They must be massive beds!

OP posts:
ButDoUAvocado · 22/06/2020 21:59

They’re not too massive, my friend has the XXL and that is really big.
How big is your Poodle?

Sunnydayshereatlast · 22/06/2020 22:02

21:59ButDoUAvocado... Imo your ddog looks lonely.. There is def room for 2 on there..

MissShapesMissStakes · 22/06/2020 22:16

Mine is a mini. All the standards I've seen were enormous so I've based my bed size judgment on that.

Sorry didn't realise I'd added a photo!
That's him snoozing under the bedding.

@Sunnydayshereatlast The other dog is in the other Tuffies!
They do snuggle occasionally but only if he’s in it first. If he tried to get in when the Poodle was already settled she’d take his face off Grin

ButDoUAvocado · 22/06/2020 22:31

Aww he’s lovely! I emailed Tuffies and told them the breed and weight of my dogs and they suggested XL, they’re really helpful.
