When to offer food?

Just looking for some advice please.

My dog vomited a small amount at around 5.15 this morning, just the once. Then just after midday she brought up a tiny amount of foamy white stuff.

She clearly feels unwell and is just sleeping.

She isn't showing any interest in food, but provided she doesn't vomit again and looks as if she might like some, would it be too soon to offer her a small amount of food at her usual evening meal time around 5ish or is it too soon?

It would be her usual sensitive stomach vet diet.

There has been no diarrhoea but her tummy is a making a few noises and she's a little farty, although nothing too terrible.

I always offer my dog smaller but more frequent amounts and just throw it if he doesn't eat it. It also helps to determine if he is hungry but still vomiting after eating or his appetite is gone as the vets always want to know if he is still eating if I contact them about symptoms.

I think that sounds fine to me, but I'd offer a smaller portion just in case.

I was just a bit worried that it might be too soon and actually make her vomit; I suppose she wouldn't eat it though if she felt that bad.

I was going to watch her overnight but I've actually rung the vet, as I'm a bit worried about how lethargic she is.

When I wrote my post I was hoping she'd have picked up a bit by now, but if anything she seems worse - she isn't drinking either, I've offered her water on my fingers, but she'll only take a tiny bit.

Anyway, we've got an appointment this evening. Poor little thing, she doesn't look at all well.

If she starts wagging her tail and leaping about when we get there, I'll be happy but mortified as they've fitted me in.

This happened to our dog last week - there's a gastro bug going around the canine world apparently. Took ours to the vets and she got some treatment for sickness and diarrhoea. Hope your doggy is feeling better soon 😊

I suspected it might be a bug as I don't think she could have eaten anything that's upset her.

We were at the park on Saturday so maybe she caught something there.

She wasn't quite right yesterday so I wasn't that surprised that this happened, but she does seem really under the weather.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one going to the vet with this sort of thing.

Normally, I'd be making an appointment without hesitating but at the moment I feel a bit reluctant to 'bother' them.

No point in leaving it though, when the vet can give her something to make her feel better.

I hate to see her like this.

We went to the vet last night and she was given all the usual pain killers and so on. The vet did say I could have her admitted but we both agreed she would probably be ok at home.

I was a bit worried about her overnight tbh and ended up sleeping on the sofa all night so that I was near her.

She wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, wouldn't wee but at least she wasn't being sick, and just wanted to be left alone to sleep; I think some of it was caused by the medication.

We were given an appointment for this morning and before we went I managed to get her to eat a small amount of chicken, she wouldn't eat her usual low fat food, have a drink and do a wee; first wee in 24 hours.

And she was really bright by the time we got to the vet.

She was given more injections and we've been given some medicine for her sore tummy and some bland low fat food, which I'm not sure she'll eat, and the vet will be in touch in a few days.

He thinks it's probably another flair up of pancreatitis.

It's strange how it goes. She's seems to be fine for several months, it was nearly a year ago that she had the flair up before last, and then she had one in May and another one now.

i think she eats something in the park that triggers it off and it seems to hang around for a while.

Hopefully, tonight we'll get to sleep in bed. I'm exhausted.
