Puppy poo

Just got our pup yesterday a BC
Have a question see cause hes new is the poo meant to be slightly soft
It's not like runny but not hard like you associate dogs poo too be
Plus this morning noticed small amounts of blood separate to the poo on the pad

Phoned the vets and they say it could be just stress and to keep a eye on it
Is this right?

I agree, keep an eye on it. Think who sold puppy to you, was something wrong? It's not just puppy farmers that can be careless.

Puppy could be very stressed, remember, puppy has just lost everything they know. Mum gone, siblings gone, that kind human that feeds gone, bed gone .... after all that, puppy will bounce back in time.

Got the pup from a breader we saw both parents and our little one and the rest of pups are healthy
We got him yesterday and the poos were ok as I say not diarrhoea just this one this morning had a small amount of blood

My puppy is 4 months old now but his pops have been some hard and some sloppy the whole time. Just a young digestive system adjusting I guess?

That's what I'm thinking I've never had a dog was always cats but partner has grew up with them so I always thought the poo would be like normal dogs
We will keep a eye on him hes due to see the vet anyway on Wednesday just a fright with a wee bit of blood this morning

It could quite possibly be stress. New home, new people, away from his littermates and mum and the breeder - that's a lot to take in for such a small puppy!

Hes done a poo there on the mat hes learning and theres no blood

You're doing the right thing keeping an eye out and mentioning it to the vet. I swear puppies and dogs are more worrying than children sometimes!

I know we are wanting another child but the pup is like a child already lol was worried there as hes having a nap his breathing is fast partner had to tell me it's ok honestly lol what will I be like when we do have another child lol omg thanks for the help as say have the vets on Wednesday with him we check up jags chip etc

It may well be stress but could also be other things.
Did the breeder tell you when he was last wormed and with what?

Also, btw he should have been chipped before he left the breeder.

The breader is a local guy who's been breeding for years and comes highly recommended by others who have had or got dogs from him and hes licensed
Its not the first time we've heard breaders not chipping dogs was speaking to a pal who's away to pick up a dog today who's older than our pup and hasn't been vaccinated or chipped

Hes doing well so far bursts of energy then wee naps lol trying to get the toilet training down is a nightmare constantly watching for signs hes about to go its touch but will be worth it watching him grow

Unless he sold you a puppy under eight weeks then your breeder is breaking the law. Please ask him about worming for the sake of your puppy.

UK law requires the puppies to be chipped and registered to the breeder, new owners will then need to change details. This can be done online free of charge - only takes a few minutes.
As for vaccinations, that's here and there. As far as I know there are a few brands out there and often a Vet will start the whole course again. So understandably, some breeders are reluctant to offer first vaccinations. Also, it's always advisable to take your new puppy to the vet witin the first week for a little idependant health check... these things should all be written down in your sales contract.

Your breeder has broken the law.

Puppies MUST be chipped by eight weeks of age and certainly before they go to new homes, which they also shouldn't do before eight weeks of age.

Vaccinations are different as some breeders will start, others won't, but I really don't like the sound of your breeder at all

Please make sure your puppy is wormed and flead.

Pup got all clear at the vet yesterday just some ear mites but otherwise healthy
He was chipped so has now been re registered and about to start worming and flea treatment (going to get drontal tomorrow) was given treatment for the mites yesterday.
Poor thing is feeling the heat the day
Wee walk out the front later when it cools

You need to tell the breeder about the ear mites - the rest of the litter will have them as well. Poor pups.

Umm your breeder doesn’t sound particularly good. The chip thing is serious. Either the puppy is too young or he’s not doing his job properly.
Ear mites are nasty too. Again a sign all light not have been ok.
You said you saw both parents and the little one but no other puppies ? Not the “ the last one “ or “ they decided not to collect him “?

Glad the vets seen him now. Hope all will be fine with the little guy.

We seen all the pups in his litter as we held a few before we decided.
We found he was chipped as we thought he wasn't and the mites the vets and pet shop (in getting a few thing's) say they are so common in young pups and that ticks and worms are rife at the moment
The breader we choose has been doing this for years maybe a good 20 odd years we met a guy who has got a pup from the same guy and recommended him so did a few others who have dogs from him
There was nothing dodgy about the whole experience

OP I'm glad your pup is OK and has seen a vet.

However..... the pups should have been wormed and flea treated. Ear mites are not that common, unless the dogs are kept in pretty shit conditions tbh or never flea treated.
If the pup was micrchipped then the breeder should have given you the paperwork with your pup, at the time.
The fact that he passed blood,combined with the fact that he's come from not great conditions may well mean that he is carrying a parasite( especially common if he lived on a sheep farm) so if it happens again this is something you need to be aware of.
