What time does your dog go out in the morning?

Just that really.

We have always got up at 5:30 to fit in a decent walk before work. Since lockdown I'm mostly working from home, so the dog is sleeping until 6-6:30ish, and then going out for a quick pee before breakfast. I'd love her to wait a bit longer. Just wondering what everyone else does.

Ours goes out whenever I get up, but if I oversleep she will wake me up at 0930-1000 (goes to bed at 2300).

Always has ad-lib food and water in her crate so it’s not hunger waking her up.

Asdf12345 · 12/06/2020 21:39

I wish she would go to bed earlier mind, but the other half likes to go to bed late and get up late.

StillMedusa · 13/06/2020 01:06

Mine won't pee or poo in the garden (sigh) so we do a last wee at about 10.30pm and she has a few biscuits before bed at about 12pm (she dozes but comes up with me)
Work days..I get up at 6.45 and she comes for a kiss then goes back to sleep...! DS1 takes her out about 8.30am. Non work days I take her out at around 9am..she doesn't need to pee immediately either! Bladder of steel as she often drinks during the night. She's 13m and has been a late riser from about 12 weeks old!
She rarely has breakfast as she's not interested and doesn't eat til around 11am.

Before I realised she had a great bladder I used to drag her out at 7am and she hated it Grin

After years of having a little bugger who got up around 4am, and then one that got up at 6am, current dog wakes up around 8:30 am and gets restless to go out around 9:30 -10:00 am. Last wee is around 7pm. Hero!

Casino218 · 13/06/2020 05:37

She has a dog flap so suits herself. I would hate having to wait for someone to let me pee!

BiteyShark · 13/06/2020 05:40

We had years of our dog getting up any time from 4am. Despite us getting up just after 5 for work I always knew he wasn't desperate for a pee but had to get up just incase as he has a chronic stomach condition and sometimes he needed to poo.

Two things fixed that. First was having him sleep on our bed as he is a velcro dog so just wanted to be near us. The second was giving him a couple of biscuits late evening and in the morning if we want a lazy morning in bed with a cuppa and the tv. I think the biscuits help settle his stomach and he isn't hungry or feeling sick due to his illness so is happy to laze about.

Now he doesn't get up even when he knows I am up and have put his breakfast out until both DH and I are up, washed and dressed and even then I have known him to mooch into the kitchen much later. Given the early mornings of the first few years I am loving my lie ins again 😁

I have to say my dog goes whenever we take her out. It can be 8am or 10am depending (three kids and one of them is a baby, which delays our getting out of the house sometimes!). She always waits patiently and doesn’t show any signs of urgency. She has shown in the past if she really needs to go out (for a random poo!) by nudging us. Usually in the morning she will go up in the morning crawl into bed with the kids and sleep until we call her down to go out. She will stay in their beds even when they go down. She gets a good amount of exercise during the day. Last pee is usually 9pm or 10pm.

My lazy terrier is the last to wake in the mornings, he looks quite resentful at getting up so early since our twins arrived, he sleeps at the foot of our bed and has to be in the same room as all of us so he decamps with us downstairs but hops straight into his downstairs bed and if it's a rainy morning I have to force him outside for a wee as late as 11am sometimes. He's a lazy bugger and my soulmate 😀

Bubbletrouble43 · 13/06/2020 22:24

We do let him out in garden one last time before going to bed at night though.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/06/2020 22:25

My girl doesn't get up til I do

Her butt is squashed down the back of me in bed til then

Definitelyrandom · 14/06/2020 07:30

6.15-6.30 for a 3 yo retired greyhound. Breakfast at around 7.30. It’s only day 9 for us so I think he’s still in his kennel routine.

TheChestnutCafe · 14/06/2020 07:39

Our ddog also has a steel bladder. He's gently snoring on his sofa now. He's quite happy to wait till 9-10am before his morning wee. If it's raining he refuses to go out at all. He is rather lazy though 😂

6:30, but keener on breakfast than toilet 😂

wanderlove · 14/06/2020 21:22

Lurcher here. Latest he's got up is 1 pm. He refuses to go out in the rain and will hold weed in all day when it is raining. He's the laziest dog I have ever known and sleeps on every single bed in the house during the course of the
Day

Hovverry · 15/06/2020 19:13

I must stop worrying about my dog as, according to this, he is just normal. He often won’t wee before bed and then lasts until we’re out for our morning walk at 8. That can be sixteen hours since his afternoon walk. He could go into the garden at any time but prefers to only perform on walks.

Lurchermom · 15/06/2020 20:35

It used to be 5.30, then over time moved to 7.30. now she is let out of her crate at 7.30 and climbs into bed until easily 10.30/11 (I'm up!). She is a sighthound though and they're notoriously lazy...
