Hi we picked up our beautiful 14 week old female pug yesterday and she's adorable. Only thing she keeps humping my 9 year old daughter's leg. I didn't know females did this.

Why does she do this and how can we stop it?

Any advice appreciated.

I think it's just an excitement thing. Or when they feel something but they don't quite know what (it you see what I mean). It should settle down. It's a confusing time being a puppy in a new home. Just distract with a toy or something.

It can be excitment, dominance etc...you need to redirect her when she does it as if you dont it will get worse.

Had a quick google and this seems to explain it and offer a way to deal with it

Humping is often down to over-arousal - excitement or stress usually. Is there a specific time of day it's happening? It could be that she's due a nap - mine used to do this when he was over-tired. We'd pop him on his lead and he'd be asleep a minute later!

Our 11 week old puppy is constantly humping too! He's a boy though. It's definitely over excitement when we've been playing with him. We just get on the sofa and ignore him when he starts.
