Our pointy hound is 7 months today!!
Her nose currently reaches over the top of our tables.
But she doesn't know that her legs are soooo long.
She tries to get into spaces she could previously fit..
Many moons and inches ago..
Do your big /tall ddogs know their own size?
I remember our huge rotty still thinking she could (and did if you didn't try to move /breath..)sit on our knees like a dpuppy!
Current dpuppy jumps up on the couch, no space so walks across the back, jumps off back on, walks across, no space and repeat!!
Is she daft or just no self awareness??

When my boy got too big for his square cushion (for daytime naps Blush) I bought him a rectangular bed pad. He lay across the short side with his head and bottom on the floor.

This was 2 weeks ago. Inch on already!

Windy he’s been a full-time job since day one. He’s a rather complicated chap in many ways!

Ddog1 will walk under ddog2 quite often if he’s in his way.

I think ddog1 must be missing having visitors. He’s a very sociable lad. Dh just got back from their walk and apparently he decided he wanted to go home with another man they met in the park. He doesn’t usually even approach strangers, but he made a beeline for this guy, who said hello to him, then walked off and despite dh calling him back he proceeded to follow him out the park! Shock The other guy didn’t even have a dog with him, so it wasn’t that. Very odd!

Here are my two hairy hooligans.

Sadly ddog2 has very little fur, other than his head and some on his legs these days. He’s a very sorry looking individual at the moment, but he’s a fighter, he’s still here and he’s happy, which is all that matters.

Total opposite of ddog1, who at 14 and half, with only a touch of arthritis, is strong as an ox.

I haven’t attached a recent photo, for obvious reasons.

Your girl is beautiful and a very similar build to my ddog2. I’m a sucker for a wispy beard and white socks! Grin

@CMOTDibbler

My ddog1 (saluki x grey ish) is a bit thick tbh, and has no idea of his size and tries to sit on your lap. Both of mine just try and make there be space where there isn't by just sinking into where there is a bit and expanding it. Except if the boy cat is on the sofa, when he gets allll the space and the dogs will be curled up tight at the other end
Our saluki x whippet does exactly this. Uses his long and pointy paws (with surprising strength) to shove us out of the way!
Windyatthebeach · 06/06/2020 12:28

Well

25 inches to her shoulder!!
Shock

What lovely dogs everyone has. I have a 28 inches to the shoulder tall ridgie who still acts like a gangly puppy despite being almost eight years old and who will merrily trample across me, try to fit through gaps that a small dog would struggle with, hit his back on the table trying to run under it and try and do exactly as CMOTDibbler describes - cram into a tiny space because he HAS to be with me at all times and then use all of his might to try and expand the room he has.

moosemama · 06/06/2020 19:08

25” tts at 7 months is good going. She’s obviously taking her Deerhound heritage very seriously!

My boy slowed up, but then snuck up slowly for the last couple of inches. We’ve just been trying to remember how tall he was at 7 months, but none of us can remember. We do remember that every time we were sure he’d stopped he outgrew his coat, again.

Despite being a relatively tall lad he still folds up incredibly small when he wants to. However, his favourite position is upside down with his head buried under either a blanket or a soft toy. Either that or under the living room curtains!
