Getting dog to sleep longer

Has anyone successfully got their dog to stay in bed longer?

My nine month old pup happily sleeps in a large covered crate in a very comfy bed. However, she gets up at 6-6.15 every morning and I'd prefer her to stay a bit longer.

The crate is covered so no daylight making a difference. No boilers or anything starting up, no traffic noise. She isn't desperate for the loo as I open the back door and she doesn't even go out. I've tried giving her evening meal later, keeping her more active in the evenings, giving her a snack before bed, all make no odds. Nothing is going on to make her get up. She barks intermittently until I come down (I don't feed her until after 7am)

Any ideas? Previous dogs have just happily stayed put until I get up, I'm not a late sleeper anyway so it's not the end of the world but I'd prefer not to be dictated to 😂

No advice, mine didn't start sleeping in past about half six until was at least 18 months I'm afraid 🙈

He's two and a half now and will sleep in but only if nobody is up. DH is an early riser though so the dog gets up with him in the hopes of being fed toast

Ours also wakes @6 and wants out of the crate however if we pop him in the end of our bed he will sleep till 8.

If you come to the barking pup, she learns that this is how she gets your attention.

Set your alarm before she wakes up, wake her up with no fussing around. Let her go to potty. Have your coffee and read/play on your laptop/mobile - ignore her (no fuss). Feed after 30 minutes. Repeat for few days, then start adding 5 minutes until you reach your desired waking up time.

I put my 8 month old pup into his crate at 10 p.m. and wake him up at 6.40 a.m. Just 2 weeks ago he was waking me up at 6 a.m. (barking, rattling his crate) without apparent reason (didn't want to go potty or drink or eat ). So I used the technique I have described above.

@LaughingDonkey yes I was wondering if that approach might work, I just haven't been able to bring myself to set my alarm for 6am yet 😂 I always wait until she's been quiet for a few minutes before I go down (she just lets out single barks every few mins rather than persistent) and let her out but I will try and more regimented approach!

Yes, that is exactly what my boy did He would bark few times and then wait a bit. He would then rattle his crate and wait again. Then he would whine and wait again. This would go on until my normal waking up time at 6.40. Basically he would go through every single sound and noise he could make!!!

Dpuppy sleeps downstairs with other ddogs. First week of no crate...
Dh sets alarm for 630. Dpuppy goes out for a wee and dh carries her - 20+ kg now - up to our room where she sleeps on our bed til at least 10.!!
