Just caught dog licking weedkiller

Help, I was just spraying some weeds and unbeknown to me, the dog had followed me round to the front of the house. I caught him licking a plant I’m pretty sure I’d just sprayed. He seems absolutely fine, but should I do anything?

Yes, phone the vet.

You can phone animal poison line. They are poisoning specialists- a phone consult is £25 I think, which is refunded if you do need to see a vet.

Thanks so much and thanks @bluebluezoo , I called them (vet also recommended I call them) and they were so helpful. He's fine and they've advised no need to go to the vets.
Huge relief all round.

That must be a relief! Glad he is okay.

In future, weed killer is very bad for the environment.
It kills all manner of creatures who come into contact with it.

There are alternatives, if it’s for paving stone weeds then those vibrating brush cutter things are quite good.
I’ll have to try and find a link for it.
Or the weed burner things, again I’ll try and link.

If it’s the borders, if you dig them up then put a dense ground cover plant there you’ll have no weeds popping up.

That must be a huge relief OP.

Maybe next time you can use some ecological, non toxic solution to kill weeds, for your own peace of mind Smile
