Neighbours cat

Our neighbours cat has become increasingly aggressive in the last few months - or maybe it's just the lockdown that's made us notice it more!!
The cat will paw and scratch at our doors and windows to get in to our dog, she also arches her back at makes a purring noise when we step anywhere near the cat. We have also spoken to other neighbours (5 different households) who have said the cat has pounced at their dog(S) and also killed some of the little birds in the wildlife surrounding our houses.
Any advice on how I can approach this situation with my neighbour? They seem to be aware of the cats behaviour but not doing much about it...we now have to stay in our garden every time the dog wants to go out just to ensure she doesn't try to attack him

If it was my cat I'd want to know and I'd try to find a reasonable solution. Cats who go outside are difficult to keep tabs on/ control but if there was anything I could do to stop my pet being a nuisance and bothering others, I would try.

I let my cat out, he doesn't go very far but in the past few days he has brought birds home so I've put a bell on his collar and restricted when he goes out to minimise the chances of him catching them.

just chivvy it out of your garden...clapping, "off you go!" This is NOT your garden", nice squooshy bottle of water, let the dog chase the cat.

It'll soon get the message that your space is not its space.

@LevoMental thanks..it's reassuring to know that you would like to know what your cat is up to as I've been putting off discussing it with the neighbour as I was unsure how they would react to someone telling them that the cat is up to no good

We've tried water pistols and even the hose pipe but strangely this is the first cat I've come across that LOVES water!! Our neighbours at the back have a swimming pool and he's always playing with the water in there. We have been shooing him away but he unfortunately keeps coming back and is inclined to pounce at any dog regardless of size. Our dog is only 10 weeks and our elder dog is deaf so I'm a bit too worried to let the dogs come so close to the cat

is it a bengal type leopard panther cat? They are renowned for their attitude!

You're going to need a bigger dog to chase it off!

What are you expecting the neighbour to do though?...

I would just like the neighbours to be aware of the cats behaviour, they do not work so are in the house throughout the day and I think they could keep a closer eye on him. A few of my neighbours have said they don't mind going to knock the door as the behaviour is becoming an issue. I'm hoping that if we explain the the neighbour they can try and do something about the cat before someone falls out with them!

It’s a cat though, there isn’t much they can do to keep an eye on it.

They can never let it out, which is very unlikely to happen, they could cat proof their garden, but that’s not hugely likely either....

I would explain to them. You could angle it that you're concerned for the cat as you have dogs, see if there's a solution you can come up with together - there are certain smells that might deter it or they could agree to keep it in at certain times of the day so you can let your dogs out in peace

A cat is unlikely to kill a dog. Dogs do kill cats. I can't see the cat being too much of a problem when your puppy gets bigger?
