Happy tail?

Happiest dalmation in the world has split her tail, it keeps healing then splitting again cause she is a bit stupid and whacks it on everything. It's been over a week now and shows no signs of healing past being re split so I'm going to phone vets this morning. The house looks like a murder scene at times. Any idea what they can actually do?

Our dog had a split on his ear and we had to keep a plaster on it for about 5 /6 weeks before it finally healed up , absolute nightmare and the house regularly looked like the scene of a massacre .

Should have said that the vet had glued it twice to no avail

So I phoned vets and they said sticky bandage, best I could find in boots was a normal bandage and lots of sticky tape. I might have to see if I can buy sticky bandage off the vet. They said they might have to shorten her tail but it's too early to say that yet.

I would get vet bandage from the vets or online. It stands more chance than sticky tape. Good luck though tails injuries are a nightmare

I used to buy the sticky bandages from the local Lloyd’s chemist but they are going to be quite heavy for a tail . Personally I’d shave it and try ordinary fabric plaster .

Tails are a nightmare to heal. The blood supply is poor (not that you'd know that as you dog sprays blood up your walls) and the constant movement makes it hard for a decent scab to form. Pipe insulation can help protect it from being knocked.

Our white dalmatian cross had hers bitten by ndn awful terrier. Never healed. Kitchen regularly looking like CSI crime scene.

I can relate to the house looking like a crime scene! Our lab split his tail just as we were selling and having viewings.
We had it glued and dressed numerous times but in the end he had to have an op as it just wouldn't heal.
He was absolutely fine after the op and still had an extremely happy tail!

Some sort of foam noodle over it.
Unfortunately most end up in tail tipping as they are just a nightmare.
