Husky blowing coat

Hi all, we've got two Siberian huskies and due to the warm weather, they've been shedding their coats for what seems like ages.

I've tried different brushes, plucking by hand. Does anyone have any advice for what might work to help them shed quicker? One of our dogs doesn't care but the other gets very annoyed by it

It’s essentially a piece of rubber and you’ll look at it and wonder why would anyone pay money for that, but it is incredible for shedding animals. I use it on my Husky x and on all the horses. I have a Falabella who sheds like nothing I have seen before and this is the only brush that can cope.

Have you tried an under coat rake? I use it on my long hair dogs ...

You need a rake.
Mine's a double coated Eurasier and for the last two weeks I have been brushing her for half an hour every day and have genuinely taken off enough hair to stuff a duvet!
I have a load of other brushed but only the undercoat rake actually takes out the stuff that needs to come out., and she feels so much softer!

Thanks everyone! I'll take a look at the different ideas. We tried the undercoat rake a few years ago but it didn't seem to get out a lot of the fluff. The black one is our biggest pain at the moment. We tried using the "hair dryer" they use at pet salons and it ended up making her more fluffy!

I use a furminator on my labradors. Brilliant things!

Furminators can cut the top layer of hair in double-coated dogs and leave it looking a bit stubby and dull. Useful for the softer floofy bits on the flanks and the sides of the legs but best not used on the topline.

Zooplus do a fab cheap undercoat rake which has two rows of teeth.

Personally we use blasters in the groomers to dry them but if they come in shedding a lot we'll usually blast them first before putting them in the bath and it gets so so much hair out. It's worth getting one of amazon and giving it a go, although if you can would maybe be best doing outside or in a contained room as the salon always looks like it's been snowing there's that much hair everywhere! Also if you're doing this make sure to get the blaster right in at the skin as this will blast out more hair than doing it from a distance😁
