Puppy and work

We have been researching getting a pup for a long time. DH has grown up with dogs, I haven't.
Our issue is that I work out of the home two full days and one half day. DH could usually work from home one of my long days.
I know dogs could never be left for long periods, and puppies not at all, so what do people do for the first 3-5 months with puppies if they work? Puppies obviously can't go to daycare then.
Are puppies just a definite no, and an older dog would be better?

I work full time with a mix of home and office.

I spent the first month at home with my puppy and then he went to daycare at 13 weeks of age. I was lucky that I found a dog walker who also did daycare and was happy to take on a puppy. Some daycare places won't take such a young dog.

We took annual leave, 2 weeks each for the first month. Pup was then happy to be left for 2 hours and we had both sets of grandparents pup sitting the rest of the time.

Lots of places take puppies. We've got a company who do puppy visits at home til they're big enough to go to daycare.

We did a mix of using my mum some days and using doggy day care. I also work from home some of the time and work pt.

We very slowly left our puppy for short periods of time from around 12 weeks so he got used to the idea. By 18 weeks ish we could leave him for a couple of hours with no concerns.

We too went to daycare at 13 weeks. Prior to that it was A/L plus teen son

I know a lot of people who take a chunk of annual leave, between you and DH maybe you could coordinate a month? Many daycares take vaccinated pups and although it's not ideal it doesn't sound like it would need to be many days. We're luck that my DP's are retired and happy to have pup while I work although that very possibly won't be til August now

Our abroad holiday obviously isn't happening this year so taking annual leave is doable!
