How are all the dogs doing?

I know I could legally drive BiteyDog to his usual off lead walks but instead I am mostly playing ball in the garden with the occasional road walk. Any off lead walks close by involve a park which I avoid at the best of times due to other owners so there is no way I am going there right now.

Whilst I think he misses daycare, the owner and playing with his pals he is actually on the whole adapted really well. I know he will go crazy when this is over and he sees them again as he used to love it when he was picked up and you just can't fake that kind of happiness with dogs.

But fortunately he is calm and happily playing with DH in the garden. No issues at night and is actually sleeping better than usual as we are all having more lazy mornings before getting up.

Amazing really for a youngish working cocker.

How are all your dogs coping with their changes in routine?

my ddog is exhausted when i am at home,
long walks,
in fact we are all arguing over walking her,
dh has agreed to a quick walk today because I want to walk,
ds talked about walking her,
i did consider having a walk in the woods on my own.

Erica your dog must think Christmas has come early . Walking is 100x better with a dog.

Mine is absolutely living having four humans around Been off lead a bit but mostly walked on lead in any case, sniffing is his joy.

Very happy jack Russell here. One hours walk a day in fields including a swim in the river. 23 hours sleeping, sunbathing and following me wherever I go. He’s going to be furious when I go back to work!

I am wondering how many dogs would vote for a longer lockdown extension

Our dogs are loving the lockdown, so many people about to cuddle them. They are geriatric labs and are still going for their half hour walk first thing (slow plod), and we have a large garden which thanks to the fabulous weather they are pottering in and out.

Our dpuppy is enjoying the ddog -free lounge...

We were trying to work on our fairly recent rescue dogs separation anxiety pre lockdown. For the last 6 weeks at least 3 of our family of 4 have been home 24/7; DDog can't believe his luck 😃. We are trying to get him to spend an hour with a frozen Kong in 'his' room most days. Who knows how he'll adapt to normal if and when normality returns?

I always watch BiteyDog on camera everytime I leave him and I am dreading when I go back to the office as I can imagine the first few days he is going to be looking for us.

Why can't we work from home all the time

Dogs are fine getting more walks with son who takes them out for much longer than I do. One is very good off lead the other not so much but can be distracted with a ball - my son will run with him of it's too busy to let him off the lead.

Mine is loving it. Longer walks than he usually gets and everyone is at home all day so more people to give him attention. Only since lockdown I've realise how old he's getting, he gets quite stiff after a long walk.

Sounds like all the dogs are loving this change in routine .

My toy poodle is loving life. !! With us 24/7, cancelled oversea trips, walks by all, outside in the garden all day etc etc

Our hound has adjusted to new life with everyone around.

We are avoiding our usual park and going to quieter places, mostly on lead. I thought she'd hate it as she loves her morning playtime with her doggy pals in the park, but seems to be coping well. I do feel bad because she's such a social dog.

Our 7 year old is tiring DDog out in the garden.

Mine are loving it. They’re getting on in years, old bones a bit stiff, so are very content with a trot round the garden whenever they please between the hard work of lying on the sofa & never being left.

Mine have never been happier! All the attention is right up their street!

The daycare company we use are still working as they look after keyworkers dogs, so our schnauzer is still going 3 days a week even though I’m at home. It helps their business and keeps her happy so it’s great.

My dogs have never been happier too. Everyone at home, walks, ball playing and always someone to find to snooze with. Dog Heaven!

missy I wish our daycare was still operating as I would like BiteyDog to go back as soon as they reopen. I like being at home but I would like some normality back as well.

BiteyDog is currently exercising by jumping up and air snapping at all the flies in the house as we have had the doors open

Our springer is living her best life, as husband is now working from home and is finished fairly early afternoon, so she is outside doing jobs in the field with him after a morning walk with either myself or son. So walking, ditching and swimming (to get the mud off) in that order make for a very happy springer who snores like a trooper at night. Have always felt lucky to live where we are but never more so than now. We would normally have a foster spaniel, the last one went just before the stay home started but she is not really too bothered about being the only dog.

Has gone from two good walks a day, agility, family visits, dog walker and doggy pals a few times a week to one good walk a day, on lead.

Just heard from the vet that he may have a food allergy and have been recommended an Anallergenic diet to test. He won't be keen on that so that probably also cuts out all treat toys etc for a while.

Things are going to be very boring for him for a while.

Ours is loving having everyone at home, but missing his dog walker and dog friends. He still goes to the door and waits when he hears a van outside thinking it is them.

He needs a referral to the vet hospital for a neurological assessment, due to a droopy eye and dilated pupil, but they won't see him which is a bit worrying ☹️

Ours is still going to daycare though I'm not sure he is loving it as much as he was as most of his friends are staying at home.
Think he is missing his hill walks too but still getting a couple of long walks a day. We are very lucky where we live as have a good 5 mile circuit which we do with an empty golf course on route for ball chasing.
DH would usually have him up the hills over the weekend whilst I'm at work but he build him an agility course in the back garden which dog has loved learning.
