Vestibula Syndrome

Has anyone here had any experience with Vestibula Syndrome in their older dog? Our dog has been suffering for a week now and its so hard watching her :(

My oldie had an attack and I honestly thought it was the end for her. She was so poorly but gradually she was back to her old self again.

We had to hand feed her for several days and hold her up to walk.

She a head tilt for about a month but gradually this disappeared as well.

My 13 yr old had this last week. My first experience and I thought she was going to die.
The vet did a steroid injection and she stayed on steroids for a week with another twice daily tablet. After a couple of days she was hugely improved, and a week on she's miraculously back to normal
It was so frightening, I'll never forget it.

Thank you so much for replying, I hand fed her some sweet potato and carrot earlier and then saw your message and thought it wasn't a completely bonkers thing to do then!!

Also yes the head tilt, it's so sad to see :-( I won't worry if it goes on for a few weeks then.

Good to know others have been there and recovered. We thought this morning it might go the other way 😢 she does seem to of perked up a little this evening though...

Our vet gave a pill to help her heart pump strongly and a travel sickness tablet. It's been a week and a day and it's only tonight that we've breathed a sigh of relief and let ourselves hope that she might be ok.

Sounds like a common theme that it looks like the end when they get it. Scary stuff 😢😢
