I lick the back of my hand and allow my boy to lick over the same spot as treat to positively reinforce good behavoiur - he loves it

I will eat from a spoon he has taken a bite off of

We had a puppy who suddenly went off piste after reliably staying near us and ran more than 50 yards and felled a toddler. I was completely mortified, luckily the toddler was fine and the parents were okay about it, but after that we knew how much she liked children and were very, very careful.

She still likes children, but she has much better manners. She is great with them now.

Ours has done that too as a puppy. I felt so incredibly guilty and kept apologising for weeks. Luckily it was a very dog friendly parent and the toddler loves dogs, but I was mortified.

I told my dog to ‘walk it off’ after he came back limping, when actually he had broken his foot

I served a birthday cake after my dog had licked it 😝
